Just discovered shrimp macros. Best way to meal prep them?

Always liked shrimp and been craving it. Just now realized they're good on a cut. Low calories, high protein. So now I want to make Jerk shrimp next week, how do you brehs fix it?

If you're going for super healthy, boil them with some salted water and lemon, with the shells on. Have to devein them after.

If you have no problem with a little fat, peel and devein and skewer them. Coat in oil and seasoning and grill for hnnnggg flavor.

May go the later route, sounds easier. Would it be possible to buy frozen without the shell? I've never cooked shrimp before so idk. I'm guessing you sear for about 10 mins?

Shrimp are great. It's tough to find foods that have a better fat to protein ratio. I always cooked stir fries and adding them right at the end so they cook in the sauce I made but don't overcook. Either that or sprinkle with lemon juice and various spices and grill them on a stick/skewer.

Don't use them for meals that you plan to reheat at work or something. It'll stink up the joint something fierce and your co-workers will hate you. This applies to any fish really.

Even if we have a toaster oven at work? I'd probably eat it cold or heat of the side and mix the cold shrimp in

Goood for you man. Shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sauté it. There’s um, shrimp kebabs, shrimp creole.

Shrimp gumbo, pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There’s pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp.

Shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That’s, that’s about it.

You can buy them deveined and shelled frozen - they are also already cooked. I take them out and run them under warm water till defrosted then skewer and put them on the grill. No oil, but i squeeze some lime and on them and a little salt.

another is just traditional shrimp cocktail - I found spicy cocktail sauce that stuff is goat (though the sugar can be high). That's my go-to when I don't have time. Just defrost the shrimp, throw them in a bowl, add the cocktail sauce and I eat it with a fork (I eat the tails too, too lazy to pull them off)

Devein? Lot of terminology regarding prep work. I'll have to look up which brand to buy. I also want to go as organic as possible.

Devein is the term in polite society for removing that dark poop chute from along the back.

I've made this a few times and it's great. You can cut the amount of oil needed in half, or more, same with the sugar.

I also do them sometimes with a can of coconut milk, a curry paste and fish sauce, whatever vegetables I have on hand, and serve over cauliflower rice.

I can tell you're a good cook lol. Will definitely try this after I make some Jerk Shrimp.

From what I've been reading, frozen deveined shrimp with shell is the best. Gonna look for that.

Season with salt, pepper, smoked paprica and garlic. Fry on some oil with cooked pasta and some veggies (red pepper and zuccinni is my go to, mushroom also works), sprinkle with lemon juice and add a little sesame on top when ready, can't go wrong.

Honestly - I usually just buy the cocktail shrimp thing at the grocery thing and toss the sauce. I try and limit how much I eat bottom feeders tho - be careful where the come from. The farmed stuff from SE Asia is REALLY shady; would not eat.

IIFYM, make shrimp lejon. You're going to want to use big shrimp.

Take some grated horseradish, wrap in in cheesecloth or paper towels, and squeeze all the liquid out of it. Get rid of liquid and set horseradish aside. De-vein and butterfly the shrimp (you want to create a cavity to fill with the horseradish, but don't cut all the way through). Fill the cavity you've created in each shrimp with the horseradish, then wrap each shrimp in a slice of bacon. I usually use a toothpick to hold each piece together. Bake/air fry until the bacon is browned and crisped up. Enjoy. I usually make a mayo-based spicy sauce to go with it, but for cutting you could just leave that part out or use a little tartar sauce with some hot sauce added or something.

I just follow directions. The frozen, already deveined stuff is definitely easiest. But pulling out poop chutes is also kind of relaxing in a weird way.
