So overexerting myself with too much cardio is something that's in the back of my mind. Though, I do have a "cross that bridge when I get there" mentality for now, as I don't see myself starting for a little while. Judo is great. I did it as a kid for a couple years but moved on from it, which I now regret. A lot of the gyms around here operate as MMA gyms, so if I wanted I could probably drop in on some BJJ or striking classes to supplement the Judo.

Yeah, it's always cool to see people progress with guitar. Currently I'm learning the song 'Cirice' by Ghost. It's a metal song with some really great riffs and a cool solo. I've mostly been focusing on some technique stuff lately though. I'll put together some vids and PM you. What about you, any new songs lately? And what genres are you mostly into?
No, no, there's definitely gonna be some cardio intensive work in BJJ. I just meant that it's basically all ground work depending on the school you go to, as opposed to Judo.

But there are absolutely guys who play BJJ and take it super slow so you can absolutely get light rolls in.

I did end up hitting 245 last bulk while also training BJJ + Boxing but I was eating like 6-8K daily to keep up.

Problem with going to a lot of schools is the fact that most are upward of $100/month so the bill racks up. It's why I recommend finding a school that has BJJ and a striking art if you're just looking to dabble and round out your skillset. If you're looking to compete that's when you want to find two seperate schools with a fight team.

Legit would love to hear that, I'll clear out my inbox so you can send me a PM! Metal guitar is super technical and tight, so you're probably pretty damn good! I'm looking forward to hearing itAs for me, I just dick around. I learned how to cover "Swallowed" by Bush the other day. I listen to a lot of random stuff, but I'm not very good at technical play, I do more rythym.

Brah you can train indoors and run calisthenics in the mean time.Legit it's better than nothing.

At least use that to hammer out a routine so you don't have to start from scratch in 2 months again

In on this. Mostly just here to cut down and assess my current baseline after several years of only intermittent lifting and becoming somewhat overweight as a consequence of a sedentary, high stress job and the dinner/sedentary evening routine I fell into. Started at 211 a couple days ago. Focusing on diet right now but plan to get back into the gym as soon as I lock down a new job (last one became a victim of Covid economic hysteria). I was formerly pretty aesthetic in the mid to high 180s, so I'm going to see what things look like after I've cut down and go from there.

Deonjang & Gochujang are always included in my meals crew. Literally my two favorite things to slap in. Mix the Gochujang in my rice, and marinate my meat in Deonjang.

Galbi & Bolgogi are legit some of the best foods in the world srs

About 160
"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

Just had an awesome late night 4am gym session of a pull day and I hasd one of my best pumps since so I gotta post these pictures. I apparently walk like I have ILS at work as everyone tells me it however I don't see it myself because in those work clothes or any clothes, no amount of muscle is visible except arms and that's just the 'now' natural life. I know I need to work the traps but feel free to tell me if I do have ILS or if I actually have lats for days

if you need someone to chat with, don't hesitate to shoot me a PM.

I'm around 1g and usually top of a bit over, but as an older brah there is some evidence that I need to be on the higher side.

When I was cutting I was getting about 220+ a day. Overkill but it kept me full.
Now I just try and get at least 200 a day.

I will be getting in on this when I sharpen up a litrle more. 3 weeks into prep 15 and 17 weeks out. Finally doing a real run at nationals in classic physique.
Have a mildly famous coach who is actually my lifting partner now so good things coming.

Currently already lost 10lbs and eating 4000+calories a day less than 30 min cardio 5 days a week.

1.75-2g/lb

No one ever lost a bodybuilding competition by eating too much protein. I have heard it from most of the top coaches that as long as digestion isnt being screwed up, theres is no real "limit" to protein. More protein= more recovery = more muscle mass= better workouts.

If you ask me there is no reason a male should ever be under 300g protein if hes trying to be aesthetic or compete.

Even though it's too early for me to start noticing changes in the mirror, the scale is heading in the right direction, and I feel really positive and energized knowing what's ahead for me if I stay on track (despite other things in life sucking pretty badly at the moment). We're all gonna make it, brah.

Ah I see what you're saying. I used to do Judo as a kid, which is what drew me to it. I do like the ground game in BJJ though and think if you can combine the two that you're in great shape for any kind of MMA scenario. As for getting 6-8k cals in per day, that's fukking crazy, dude. I don't think I could eat that much, I just don't have the appetite. Even when I was rowing I probably topped out at like 5k MAX. Granted I wasn't trying to gain weight...

Where I live a lot of the BJJ classes are held in gyms that are basically MMA gyms. So typically there's a BJJ class at a certain time each day, or an instructor comes in a couple times a week. I'm not sure how the prices breakdwon, though. From what I've seen, the BJJ classes are typically more expensive than, say, boxing ones. Anyway, to begin with I'd stick to one discipline.

I PM'd you some vids. I'm not that technical yet, but I'm definitely working towards becoming more proficient with some of the technical stuff you need for metal. Put up a cover of that Bush song, will check it out. You should check out the guitar megathread. Lots of experienced players in there.

Do you recommend certain sources of protein? Like what pct. comes from chicken and beef vs, say, whey? I've never been one to track my macros but I am starting now. I definitely don't think I'm getting anywhere near enough protein and I think it's affecting my recovery.

Sounds really clean. My biggest ones are rotisserie chicken, ground beef, and eggs with cheese. I'll add cottage cheese. It's a good snack to throw in.

Never been the biggest fan of shakes. The only reason I use them is because I have a hard time eating enough.

whatever sources you digest best and getting a mixture. Usually the rule I have seen with top level coaches who preach high protein say no more than 50% from shakes, but up to 50% is fine. Currently I am 3 scoops whey meal 1 and 2, 270g chicken 3 and 4, 250g beef meal 5, 300g egg whites 3 scoops whey meal 6.

Typically trimmed chicken breast and white fish are on par with eachother and its just preference
Whey and egg whites are on par with eachother and just which you prefer/digest best
beef/pork/salmon are on par with each other as long as its lean cuts, extra lean for beef as it can contain a lot of fat.

I dont count protein outside of meats/whey/eggs. Protein really shouldnt change much and as I said should go with digestion. If you are building, eat as much as possible, if you are cutting, eat as much as you can for recovery and to maintain muscle.

but you have to be smart with the fat content, I mean if you are cutting dont consider beef and meat with 3+g fat/serving free protein.

Never been the biggest fan of shakes. The only reason I use them is because I have a hard time eating enough.
the problem you can run into there is the fat content in rotisserie chicken even after removing the skin, ground beef as mentioned, and the digestion factors of having too much cheese/cottage cheese on a high protein diet.

Didn't know rotisserie was that bad as far as fat content. It's been my go-to for the past year or two just because of how simple/quick it is. I used to make my own chicken breasts so I might start mixing some of that back in.

As for egg whites and whey being on par, I saw a video on youtube about drinking liquefied egg whites lol. Apparetnly it's like 21g of protein per serving or something absurd like that. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any so I'll have to stick to whey as a supplement.

Thanks for the pointers, dude.
