All jokes aside, she was probably mocked her entire life and to die like that has got to be heartbreaking for her parents.

How the hell do people let themselves go like that?

I remember 2 years ago when I was just getting a bit chubby, I lost my mind and started working out again and haven't looked back since.

What goes on in these people's minds?

Lauren had a condition called complex regional pain syndrome in her foot, which meant she used crutches. She also had high blood pressure – but her parents say they had not believed her to be at high risk from Covid-19
There you have it folks, her terrible parents killed her. Spent her whole life telling her she’s fine the way she is. Kids are just cruel. You’re beautiful just the way you are. No way Covid is any worse for you than a normal person.

It is possible to be tough yet loving to your children, ya know

I feel real bad for her, probably a sweet girl. Everyone who says obesity is healthy should be charged with murder semi-srs.

Did not read but I genuinely wonder if obesity was mentioned once in the article, or the guardian plans to promote a health movement spreading awareness of the dangers presented by the lifestyles of most western people due to their obvious concern for society's wellbeing...

brb likely just more fear mongering and covid super dangerous at every age

Its absolutely disheartening, and she had 0 control over being born into that situation. However, it is a clear issue when the parents are warning the public about the dangers of covid when the real problem is right in your face. Even the doomiest of doomers can spot the problem with this case.

This is why I cannot get down with the body acceptance movement. Its supposed to be about acceptance of things you cannot control; body deformities and things of that nature. The obese have taken the baton and ran with that.

I truly empathize with the obese who want to make real changes in their life and diet. They have real issues that cannot be seen from self image, to being made fun of, a lack of self control, and parents that don't want to do anything about it and encourage a healthier lifestyle....not to mention all of the other issues that life throws at us

well it's the same thing as mean/aggressive people, junkies, addicts, when you're in an environment where everyone is doing it or everyone is the same, it's hard to stop. the average white person is fat, and they think a healthy body is skinny. people around her are probably like, you need to eat! i went to a white populated gym here couple months ago, everyone was legit obese dude lol.

i'm pretty sure there's also a correlation with white societies = more stressful or miserable, which also can be the reason why people look to food for feel good feelings
There is only one Hell: the one we live in now.

Do all fat people get it bad? Are there studies on fat people getting it? Just wondering if it's a given that fat people who get it will be miserable. Or have lots of fat people gotten it and it wasn't much to deal with? My nephew/roommate is fat but he's lost 100lbs in the last year.... but still fat lol

Lol yea that had nothing to do with it, nothing at all. Probably Biden voters that think it was Trump’s fault.

70% of the population is overweight but 99.7% require no medical treatment for covid

when they say fat they are talking seriously obese that you likely have multiple medical problems, blood pressure, prediabetic, poor cardio health ect. They arent talking about the average person who is now like 30 lbs overweight, the numbers and thus "science" support this.

Her parents are at fault for underestimating the effects of obesity and high blood pressure, highlighted with them saying that they didn’t think she’d be at risk from Covid. Positive reinforcement is neglect.

It’s sad, but the truth is, if you don’t fight for your body, then your body isn’t going to fight for you.
