theres a reddit tax forum, just like theres a reddit forum for everything.

i look at it sometimes, but you will just get random tidbits and questions and answers.

If you dont know the basics at all you can get "taxes for dummies" from your library and read through it.

Ive always done my own taxes but i dont have things to deduct. If you either get mega rich in the highest brackets or get something more complicated then I would just pay somebody to do them. And if youre in the highest brackets working on a tax reduction strategy you got to work with the same person for a bit and really its your behavior over the whole year that is going to matter, by the end of the year it might be too late to reduce your taxes, you got to plan ahead.

I used to do my own taxes when I had just a w2 job, but now I have a company and deductions. For me it’s more on what I can deduct and learn the process of following the rules. Other than that, I pay an cpa to do that chit

oh I see what you mean, yeah if you are not big enough to justify a full time or even part time accountant then by the time end of the year hits you are just paying taxes on whatever has already been done so yeah it would help to know them better and know what you could deduct.

Started paying a cpa due to out of state rental and it’s def worth it. Used to do turbo tax and it’s literally a hundred more dollars to have this lady do it. The savings is there on time and def worth it.
