Mind = Blown at Lifting Belts

Borrowed one for the first time today while doing squats.

About 35.0% increase in tightness at the bottom, feels like cheating.

I am thinking of getting this one:

Any difference with the lever belts and the traditional ones other than convenience?

All the competitors at my gym use lever belts fwiw

I would totally rule out a double prong belt, they are a nightmare all around

You can get a lever belt quite a bit tighter but you kinda need to be consistent with what you weigh and wear to the gym everyday as they are a little more time consuming to adjust if it's too tight/loose

I would be completely sketched out by a $35 price tag in your OP tho
A powerlifting belt should be something you only have to buy one time

In Inzer for example will run you over $100 but has a lifetime warranty and far and away the most popular brand of lever belt I see at meets

I'd recommend a 4in wide 10mm thick single prong for an all around everyday belt or the same size lever belt if you plan to compete/powerlift

SBD, Inzer, Rouge, Pioneer, Sling Shot, Titan are all top shelf brands that I'd recommend sticking to
NASCAR American

I just got a new one this week lol. I got mine second hand from ******** marketplace for like $60, but they’re usually like $100+ new. Someone else gave some pretty good brands, but I’d also add Inaka Power and Strength Shop(this brand may be a little cheaper than the others)

i would only use it if you are doing crazy heavy weight

they weaken your lower back muscles, so you'll have imbalances

will likely injure it doing something else

i stopped training legs a year ago though so what do i know

I used to use them in the name of safety.

Then I stopped being a soy boy ******* and do all my lifts with no belt now.

They definitely add at least 25% to squats and deadlifts, but as other users have mentioned-- they lead to an underdeveloped lower back which opens you up to injuries and homosexuality.

> Moving more weight
> Underdeveloped muscles

As I understand it, the force gets more evenly distributed throughout your torso instead of all going through your spine, but the same muscles are doing the work to move the weight. Although you might feel it more in your abs from bracing against the belt, your posterior chain is still doing all the work.

I'd say make sure you don't get one which is too wide unless you're very tall with a long torso.

fking Lmao at thinking belts make you weaker.

Purpose of belt: increase intra abdominal pressure (i.e. you brace better).

How to use a belt: Use it for main lifts, but also have SOME training beltless. Nothing will happen if you never train beltless.

You can also train without a belt, it's fine too. It's a tool that'll help improve your lifting, you can choose to use it or not.

Ive had the Titan 10mm lever for ~6 years and liked using it, but bought a thin belt off of Amazon a couple of years ago and like it more for comfort.

https://www.amazon.com/Dark-Iron-Fit.../dp/B08KTQRTXS

I’d say a belt adds maybe 5% to my squat strength, and negative 20% to my deadlift strength. Hate conventional deadlifting with a belt. Puke city.

Every squat I’ve done with a belt, I’ve come close to replicating without one. I think using one is mostly personal preference, but if you want to get to your absolute peak, then I would suggest investing in one.

This is nonsense. This sounds like something a 14 year old would say, and he also thinks you can turn fat into muscle and you can do sit-ups to burn belly fat.

I have a 10mm single prong belt from strength shop for like 100 bucks if I remember correctly. They are made very well and will last forever. I only use it for my working sets when I deadlift or when I go over a certain weight when squatting.

Lol I modeled for that company once for some commercials and got a bunch of free gear + paid in cash, I did really like their lifitng belt it was thin but supportive.

The best you can get, and honestly VERY worth the money is a PAL, pioneer adjustable lever belt. Its the same thing as you posted in OP but you can adjust the lever much more precisely to your body and do so without having to remove the lever.

The PAL is $65 but can be put on any belt like the one in OP but the lever makes all the difference.

I have a single-pronged 10mm Inzer belt that I've owned for several years, can confirm these belts are durable as fuk and well-made, even after me throwing them around after sets.

If you just want a general-purpose, all-around lifting belt for the gym I would go with the Inzer single-prong belt. SBD is pretty good too tho.

Most powerlifters prefer a lever belt because it's is easier to secure and get it tight. However I know many that prefer a single prong-belt because they like a different tightness on certain lifts. Like me for example I like it really tight on squats and a little bit looser on deadlifts. Also if you fluctuate in weight you will have to adjust your lever belt with a screwdriver. Not really a big deal but with a single-prong belt all you need to do is go the hole looser or tighter.

Get a high quality belt, do not get an Amazon cheap-o one. A good belt is something you will user forever.

First you need to decide between a bodybuilding belt (like Cardillo) or powerlifting belt. Bodybuilding belts are usually 6mm thick, while power lifting belts are 10 or 13mm thick. For most people 10mm is going to be the sweet spot. I find 13mm to be too much. You only need that kind of belt when you're putting up elite numbers.

I don't like levers because they can break, especially on cheaper belts. It's nice to just flip and lock your belt, but I prefer the holes.

I recommend any of these:

Mark Bell's STrong Belt - I use this one
Cardillo
Elite FTS P2 Powerlifting belt
Pioneer
Inzer Forever Belt
6'1 - 240lbs

or like I said get the PAL and there is no more adjusting and no tring to cram the belt on tigher to go 1/2" past where you should
