If someone's is aggressive to me, I try to de-escalate the situation as much as possible, I don't like getting into fights.
But at what point do you decide fk it and go aggressive at them?
Need to find a balance to know when to try and be civilised, some people only understand the language of violence & aggression

Physical fighting past a certain age is just downright embarrassing for everyone present.
But, to answer your question, it's after they have provided consent for you to beat them without allowing them a basis to later press charges.
Either A) They touch you or B) "Oh yeah! Let's go!"
Then hit hard, hit fast, gtfo after.

None of the above constitutes legal advice nor should be interpreted as such.

The moment someone swings on me its game on.
I'll never throw the 1st punch though.

I will do my best to avoid a fight unless A) they touch me in a threatening manner
B) they throw a punch
C) they threaten to attack my family
I feel that is very reasonable and should not subject me to being arrested however the law disagrees with me

Agreed with what others have said. Unless someone has already got physical I would not raise my fists.
Haven’t had a fight since I was 13. Situational awareness in public is the key to avoiding most situations.

Just ask him calmly if he is acting the way he is because he wants to fight you (unless intoxicated; ignore) while making sure you tell them you are not looking for a fight.
If so, oblige.

Intellectual superiority and situational awareness should be enough to handle 99% of situations. Add superior physical presence and it’s 99.9%.
There have been a couple scenarios from the age of 28 on where I would certainly have had to make the calculation about running to avoid legal charges, inflicting just enough defensive damage to let the person know it was a mistake, or just straight up had to drag them out the back and handle it the old way.
My primary concern in all seriousness is legal trouble. In my younger, dumber years, and admittedly I bounced for a few years so some things were just my job, I accidentally hurt a few people fairly severely when trying to just give them a warning shot.
As stated previously, there have been a few dumb situations I’ve found myself in where things are going directly towards conflict, and as soon as that warning flag goes off, I bounce. I don’t give a fuk if some Timmy gets off on thinking he scared me off. At the end of the day that kind of idiot is just going to get in trouble and I’m not going to be the one going down with him.
Was at a girls house a couple years ago, her brother and friend showed up hammered which I don’t have an issue with. Could tell within 90 seconds the friend was heated and had a crush on his friends sister. After about 5 minutes he starts getting aggressive, bumps me in the kitchen, I’m guessing he was probably a fifth deep minimum, could have probably back hand slapped him out cold.
Instead I just let the girl know I was grabbing an Uber and bounced. As I’m walking outside the guy comes onto the porch and blows me a kiss while winking at me.
Next day girl texts me that the guy and her brother got in a fight when the friend started creeping hard on the sister and the guy ended up in jail that night.
Guy probably felt like fcking macho man “scaring off” a 250 lb guy.
The next morning though I woke up like a king and went about my day. He probably woke up feeling a little different in jail.
Trouble will always find idiots. Smart people will always find an exit.
Ended up block deleting girl shortly after that because she was just a casual slam and I don’t need to be around people that have people like that around if you know what I mean.

Only when they attack you or people you love.
I had some dikhead brandish a Baseball Bat for no good reason a few weeks ago and I just walked away.
My neighbors called the cops. I didn't press charges but lo and behold not 2 weeks later his lady got taken away in a paddy wagon.
I'd have liked to see both of them carted off but oh well.
She was probably the bigger problem. Adieu bish.
If I had to I'd let him take a swing and try to dodge it, then knock his MF lights out.
The worst part is I was hanging out with his older brother the day that chithead was born. We should be friends FFS.

Guys I agree, and I never get into physical violence. I grew up in chitty environments and stopped getting into fights when I turned 16/17ish
but what do you do if it's you co-worker getting verbally aggressive? my instinct is to punch him right in the face (poosay), but we can't do this at work, it's frustrating so I default to de-escalating.

especially north of like age 17 you better really be in some danger in order to take something to a physical level. easier said than done especially with stupid stuff like road rage or some drunk at a restaurant/bar.
what i learned over time is that nobody finds it cool in the real world/professional world and the trouble you're in is never worth it. some guys need to experience it in order to get it.
through my mid 20s i had a few incidents where it was not so cut and dry especially if you grow up learning to defend yourself or whatever. but unless you are going to otherwise be injured in that moment, never swing at somebody. you also don't know what kind of weapon someone has with them. there are always people out there who will take it to a level you never wanted to go to.

one time these guys wanted to fight me so I would begin by yelling
"You fuking try anything I will run so fuking fast, you'll never catch me"
"Come at me you fuking loser, I can dial 911 in under a second"
Guys were losing it and calling me a pussy
was hilarious to see

I really don’t want to fight anyone anymore. I’m much to old for that now. That being said I know I still have gas left in the tank if I need it.
I will only throw the first punch if I’m almost certain that the fight will be happening. It’s not worth the police and everything else just to act proud. Now that if a man wouldn’t step aside or let me by after so long it’s obviously going to be the hard way.
I’m also a bit more quick to pull that trigger when I comes to my kids. Haven’t had anything happen but I bet it wouldn’t take much for me to go gull on teenager mode if someone were to degrade or try to intimidate my kids.

Most people just want to push each other and scream. The people that really want to fight don't talk about it, if you know this you can see a lot of things coming a mile away.
Really the only line is if somebody touches you then it's defense but until it's at that point it's just far more worth it to grin and leave but not turn your back.
