What Is The Appeal Of These Giant Pickup Trucks?

Guy sideswiped my car tonight at the gym while I was parked. Fortunately he turned himself in but its going to be thousands of dollars to fix. The guy said he didnt see my car next to him? Really? Are you freaking blind? The truck that hit me was a Ram 1500.

Can someone explain the appeal of these giant pickup trucks? If you aren't a tradie or a farmer than why do you need this thing? I have heard from many people they can be tough in parking lots or other narrow places.

Explain.

I was thinking about making a thread tomorrow about men’s obsession with big things. Big loud trucks, big loud guns, big loud dogs. Are they trying to compensate for something? Idk I prefer my midsize

Good points. The majority of these people are not pulling anything nor picking up lumber and stuff.

basically luxury vehicles for dudes, the ram limited models are actually pretty sweet.

Lifted trucks are lame but idk why you have a problem with regular pickups, how is it any different from tahoes, escalades, or qx80s that sloots drive around in.
lmao I was like lmao

I can agree with that. Gives us tradies a bad rep when it comes to trucks. I know dudes that get all pissy about putting material/gear in the bed of their truck. I wish I was joking

I see one and just think of the hassle parking would be lol.

I will say this though. I've ridden in a tricked out lifted GMC with the works and bishes mire hard. Like, stop and take a photo while they're with their boyfriend type mirin'. It's crazy.

How do you know? Obviously most people don't do that sort of thing with their truck on a daily basis if they aren't a tradie. Doesn't mean they don't do it once a month or so though.

I personally prefer large trucks. I like the ride. I like to sit up high and have good visibility. I like the capability of being able to tow a trailer. And most importantly. I like the idea that in 95% of crashes I'll walk away uninjured. I don't live in a major city with parallel parking so its a non-issue for me.

Been a first responder for a long time. I've been to a lot of crashes where people get seriously hurt in cars where if they'd have been in a truck they'd have only walked away with a bruise or two at the most. For the most part if your driving a F250 size truck you'll walk away from a lot of crashes uninjured. Even when occupants of the other vehicle are severely injured/deceased from the crash.

During my career I've seen maybe about 30 or 40 people killed in car crashes. (After awhile you kind of quit counting because it really doesn't matter). Only one of those was a pickup truck (Dodge 1500 to be exact) and he rolled at 100+ MPH and hit a light pole while rolling. All the rest were cars. No thnx Jeff.

I feel I am the type of person who really needs a truck. I often haul lots of heavy, dirty and large tools around. Table saws, miter saws, saw stands, milk crates full of drills, varies hand saws, etc... I used to drive an suburban but the inside got trashed with hauling all the tools plus the saw dust and the danger of having all those heavy tools in the cab of the car with passengers. I got freaked out at the idea of hitting the breaks or getting in an accident and having all those 100's of lbs of tools flying at me. also I haul lumber, cabinets and other building material on a weekly basis. I could not imagine not having a truck now that I have one. Other non tradies like them for the utility of being able to haul stuff and safety. Personally this only makes them more expensive for guys like me. If I wasn't a tradie I would buy a bad ass sports car or a SUV to take camping.

The appeal for him is going to be his insurance company raises his rates through the ceiling because he caused about 4K in damage.

Tradies using them for work is a different animal. I totally get the need for it if thats what you do for a living (my family were carpenters).

I have seen many a pickup truck owner that has a nervous breakdown if you put lumber or dirt in the bed.

Can someone explain the appeal of these exotic super cars? If you aren't an F1 driver than why do you need this thing? I have heard from many people they can be tough for plebs like OP to afford.

Explain.

I don't mind if they're stock because some people genuinely need those kind of trucks

But when they're ridiculously lifted that serves no purpose, It's obvious they just want attention and are total *******s

You stalking these people or something? Just cause it's not constantly towing something or has the bed loaded doesn't mean there isn't a reason they have it. Plus, big a truck is the key to a bro hoes heart. And by heart I mean their pants. And by pants I mean their vagina.
