The whole basis on how a truck is built is totally different than a car. That part you ride in is a cab, it's separate from the truck. The actual truck is a solid frame, that goes from bumper to bumper, which are real metal bumpers, with real metal components, like real metal suspension, and attached is a real engine sitting the right way, sitting on a real drivetrain. This changes everything about the drive dynamics of the vehicle. I really don't need to go any further on why trucks are awesome.

I'm not a tradie, but a ton of guys I work with drive them all the the time and base their manhood off of chit like what they drive. The bigger the truck, the bigger they think their dinks are. I never understood it myself.

I have a neighbor that just bought his 8th motorbike.
Supposedly Conservative Republican but he asked me to step back even though I was already 10+ feet away. Then he put on his face diaper.
He barely rides them anywhere just collecting bikes. 5 Harleys and 3 dirtbikes.
He just pulls them out most days and rubs them down like he's Cameron's Dad from Ferris Bueller. Then rides them back into the garage like an idiot.
I've pretty much decided not to even bother talking to the ******* anymore. He couldn't even spare 2 extra minutes to shoot the chit with me. I guess he's a scaredy cat. He once told me he has guns. I bet he has lousy aim. Fukn RINO soyboy with a broken marriage.
Yea I think dudes in big trucks for no reason are probably overcompensating,
Effin R-tards man. I thought he was cool at first but he's a phuckin *******.

I personally prefer large trucks. I like the ride. I like to sit up high and have good visibility. I like the capability of being able to tow a trailer. And most importantly. I like the idea that in 95% of crashes I'll walk away uninjured. I don't live in a major city with parallel parking so its a non-issue for me.
Been a first responder for a long time. I've been to a lot of crashes where people get seriously hurt in cars where if they'd have been in a truck they'd have only walked away with a bruise or two at the most. For the most part if your driving a F250 size truck you'll walk away from a lot of crashes uninjured. Even when occupants of the other vehicle are severely injured/deceased from the crash.
During my career I've seen maybe about 30 or 40 people killed in car crashes. (After awhile you kind of quit counting because it really doesn't matter). Only one of those was a pickup truck (Dodge 1500 to be exact) and he rolled at 100+ MPH and hit a light pole while rolling. All the rest were cars. No thnx Jeff.

There is a reason they have become the new luxo status symbol. They ride amazing, are easy to drive, cameras everywhere, have massive comfortable interiors, tons of technology, have fantastic utility with a bed for storage, can tow 10k pounds easy, terrain management / 4x4, safer in crashes, and mpg is getting much better.

A half ton truck isn't a giant truck.
They're not much bigger than a mini van and around the same size as a big SUV.
They're a pain to park but most parking spots are hardly big enough for a mid sized car, especially underground parking.
There is a lot more space inside so for normal/big guys it's a lot more comfortable to drive or be a passanger. You can see so much more riding higher so it's safer to drive, and because they're bigger they are safer in an accident. The bed is very useful and you don't have to worry about getting it dirty or anything because you can easily wash it out. You can tow things if you need it or have lots of space to throw things in the bed or back seat. 4x4 helps up here when it snows and I put winter tires on mine so it's very safe in winter.
I think people are just butthurt and think that because they don't have a need for something then no one else can. People like different things. You don't have to tow a big trailer and haul gear or be a tradie to need a truck. You just need to tow or haul things a couple of times a year for it to be worth it.
I mean, we can easily turn it around on you. Why do you need a HUGE midsized car when a compact car is good enough all the time? Why do you need 300 HP when the speed limit is still low. All cars should be as small as possible and have no power or anything.
I bet there's plenty of people in cities that don't drive that would love to ban cars in the city because they don't need one. Or only small compact cars like a Yaris or Prius are allowed in the city because they don't think you need anything else. Try putting even 4 adults who aren't hobbits in a mid sized car and go on a long drive, enjoy being cramped up the whole time.

I agree OP. If you're not towing or hauling anything regularly, your big truck is a waste of space.

I have a full sized but I use it as intended weekly. To be honest I have no clue how I ever lived without it. I've always owned luxury or sports cars. Those are weekend cars with my lifestyle.

I don't understand the appeal, but then again, I don't need to tow anything. They just seem like a pain in the ass to live with, drive, pay for, and park. I have no idea why someone would buy one just to commute to work in and run errands.

I used to feel the same way until I bought a house. Having a truck is GOAT. Doing projects around the house I can go get materials and load them in the back, make runs to the dump, move furniture, etc without having to ask my friend to use his truck or borrow a trailer. I utilize the truck constantly.
