The legislation includes a number of priorities sought by top congressional Democrats, including some of the more liberal members, from increasing the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour to adding billions in funding for child care.

—————————-

Can someone explain this to me? Does this mean if the legislation is passed then every state has a $15 minimum wage? Seems extreme. As a mid $20/hr guy in a $7.25/hr state, this is really concerning to me.

Goldman says they need 60 votes, so some Republicans will have to sign on and thus it'll likely be cut down.

I think there is some type of loophole the dems can use to override that. Not 100% sure though.

Prolonging the crash by printing money and devaluing the dollar further, which will cause the crash to be much worse

Getting people use to the idea of being reliant on the government for their income rather than working.

Eliminating small businesses by upping the minimum wage across the board which will cause further layoffs and businesses closing. Bezos types will continue to get richer

Etc

If every Dem/independent aligned voted to do so they could, but it's not likely from my understanding. This is the so called nuclear option to remove the filibuster and go to a majority vote, which hasn't been used for this purpose yet.

debts and deficits don't matter

deficit spending is just spending money beyond what is taxed

the government is in debt to itself, since it prints out more money than currently exists

but it doesn't matter, since they are the sole issuer of their own currency

you can't think of a government budget like a household budget or a corporate balance sheet

the government holds total control of their currency, and can realistically manipulate it to their desire, provided they have the labor, resources, and skill in the workforce to maintain a strong standing in the global economy

finances are all fake made up stuff, only resources, labor, and skill are real

it's pretty much impossible to find a salaried job that pays well and has full benefits, other than in nursing and medicine

try going on a job application site .. hundreds of applications in with no responses from employers, not even a rejection letter

that's reality for job seekers today
