Very few of the self taught crowd actually learn CS theory like data structures and algorithms, design and implementation of operating systems, compiler design, etc

Even of those who do go to school, their curriculum is watered down and lets students get their CS degree without learning the hard stuff. Or the students just cheat their way through class.

Demand is high for competent programmers. Demand for entry level workers is being out paced by the change in supply of new grads (all the learn to code bs that is getting pushed on normies). As a result, companies don’t care if you have a degree, they want to see at least 2 or 3 relevant deployable (or already deployed) projects with a frontend, backend, and API/cloud service interfacing or your own service/database.
