Start small and work your way up. Plus starting small is the best route until you truly understand the mechanics. There are plenty of affordable stocks with decent premiums you can wheel. Go to the theta gang subreddit and keep an eye out for the weekly “stocks with high IV” thread from swaggy something.

Earning coming up again on 2/9....third time's the charm right?

Good time to accumulate imo, once we break that $23-24 resistance, WSB tards will jump in and carry us to the promised land.

Probably fairly valued. Not a growth stock, and there's nothing to bring it up.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the housing market slowing down?

Uhh they did attack it. Since launch. Probably the reason it shot up to 30. But they gave up on it.
I used to have an AVI of my traps and neck. I changed it a while back and tried editing my user title but this website is glitched and it will not let me change it anymore.

Only because of limited inventory and rising prices (due to low rates)

Fair point.

But as poster below said, that last pump on RKT after earnings was wsb effect. Cause they liked RKT name.

wsb can sure damage if they convince enough to ride with them.

Buying every company that runs up 100%+ probably is a contributing factor here.

Also pretty sure you meant Virgin Galactic not SpaceX

In response to chinos pic. That's just the nature of options. Even safer ones. But i mean selling puts its still the safest best strstegy as its the second closest equivalent to owning shares. The closes thing, LEAPS

Ive been more succesful recently buy simplh buying leaps. They take up much less capital, and you can sell covered calls on them.

Ive only been trading options since june. But by far my least favorite are put credit spreads. Cash secured puts are pretty great. But I still prefer LEAPS.

That was the informational advantage. That idiots were talking like they don’t know. Blah blah 17 years not profitable, blah blah their an IT solutions company, blah blah blah.

What advantage do we have now? That long term it has amazing potential. If the stars align this will become the most important software company in the world. I think that will happen, but I don’t know that it will.

The fact that annual earnings, and therefore lockup expiration, will be in March and not February is an informational advantage (oops did I leak that?). Market thinks it’s Feb, it’s Mar.

Other than that I don’t think anyone else in this thread has an informational advantage and any other option play isGambling.

Or just buy leaps instead[/QUOTE]Nice and definitely agree, selling options is the safest & best strategy. I am a big fan of leaps, made over 15k just from leaps in just like 3 months of time but simply holding shares still my biggest gains. Slow and steady wins the race imo. Whenever I feel kinda retarded, I yolo weeklies/short dated calls cuz life's short.

Sorry guys for how remedial I am on this, I don't learn from reading instructions I need an example, some things have to be spoon-fed to me, it's an odd quirk.

So let's say I wanted to go balls in Palantir with as much equity exposure, but let's say I didn't want to risk a margin call if the stock dropped 20% from current price.

In this example PLTR is the company, it is currently priced at $20, I have $100,000 and there is a 50% margin requirement, interest on the margin is negligible as I only plan to use margin for a couple of months at most.

What would that look like?

What would I need to do if the stock dropped 30%, sell some shares to cover it, reduce margin?

Also, let's start brainstorming what/if opportunities in real estate will develop with eventual covid fallout. It'll be interesting to see if Biden and Co. do anything drastic with first time home buyers, section 8, etc.

I think we could see something interesting in small multi-unit housing eventually. Biden pushing for rent abatement/deferral until September. If I was a mom and pop owner for a few six-plexes that was in retirement, and not receiving rent even if the mortgage was being deferred on the property, I'd be looking for the exit fast. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Yes you would face a reg t margin call and would have to sell to get back to a 50% value.

As for real estate, I dunno what will happen but even in LA evictions are about to be opened back up. We won’t see drastic deferments again, but this could absolutely be an eye opener and or a signal for some people who aren’t fully committed to their investments to get out.

Heads up, you WILL have financing issues if you are looking at a property with non paying tenants

Cash is king. Good hard lenders out there if you know someone who knows someone.

But yeah Fck properties with currently non-paying tenants. I'm waiting for the recycle, where tenants have been evicted nationally and are recycling into new locations after disappearing on pre-covid property owner.

Jesus fcking christ, between this and a quick YT video... this is the easiest thing on the planet.

Here are my two plays. Palantir has demo day on Tuesday January 26th after markets are closed. I will probably enter margin territory the prior Thursday. Plan to sell margined securities by end of week after demo day. They will release Earnings in March according to my source, I'll likely hold through then.

One potential outcome that I haven't heard people talking about is, what if when the shares unlock people don't rush for the exits, or institutional buyers flood in to absorb the slack? I could see institutional investors being reluctant to spark whale moves and actually be working together to wait until the lockup period expires before they're allowed to jump in for the benefit of the entire group. If PLTR doesn't get crushed by the lockup expiration, it's possible that as it is a priced in downside, that the price jumps again.

I likely won't hold the margin through the unlock, but will keep for earnings.

The problem with waiting for such a thing, is that it will predominantly happen in less than desirable markets. Places I wouldn’t touch no matter how good of an ROI there is. I knew a guy that moved out to Arkansas to basically become a land lord teetering on slum lord. Went out with a couple hundred grand, bought a dozen properties nearly in full, and was making hand over fist in cash. But he was describing what it takes to deal with his tenants, to collect rents, to show up for service requests... basically having to be strapped every fukkin time lol.

But even locally, I’d never buy anything in East LA or Compton, until significant gentrification kicks in but I’m not about that speculator life.

That's true now that I think about it, good point. Still interested to see what the fallout in those markets might be.

Also I found this :

''Karp and Cohen filed for HSC forms (meaning SEC has to grant them permission to purchase shares worth more than $94million). And guess what? They were granted. They also granted them early termination, meaning can purchase these shares in less than 30 days. Starting Tuesday and up until DEMO DAY we will move towards and surpassing all time highs because there will be over $188 million shares being bought. You thought ARK’s $12 million purchase was nice? Wait till this hits!''

so apparently pltr gonna print next week

I was fukking a girl for awhile whose friend worked there. Old hs friend confirmed more or less indirectly, he personally has significant equity, so I'm sure they aware them.

Btw, something I've neglected to mention ever before, and I'm not sure why, is Listen and watch anything El-Erian and Gundblach say. Best view on the current situation and the angles.

Starting Tuesday and up until DEMO DAY we will move towards and surpassing all time highs because there will be over $188 million shares being bought. You thought ARK’s $12 million purchase was nice? Wait till this hits!''

so apparently pltr gonna print next week
So what’s better, buying calls or sell far otm puts and closing them before assignment?

If this is legit, I'm going to add another 500 shares which will double my position. My only concern is what may happen with the lockup expiration

One thing that's bothering me a little bit. A big part of my thesis for PLTR is that they find ways to increase business with already acquired customers. I know we've seen that with the government contracts, and maybe I'm not looking close enough, but have there been any major announcements as far as "XYZ company, already a palantir company, expands scope of contract to Y dollars over Z years for AA services"?

I can't recall anything significant, and I can't think of why a large increase in an existing contract wouldn't be newsworthy when we constantly hear about the new customers.

Holy fuk, the GME hype may be more than just a pump...

Read a discussion on GME pivoting to have more of a focus on custom pc builds. This could be genius, they made their business before off of offering a wide range of games and accessories, but they made their money off of buying and selling used games. High end pc gamers are constantly chasing the newest equipment and there is billions of desirable hardware sitting around unused because someone upgraded and didn't sell it.

GME would make this process extremely easy. A lot of people complain about having to drive hundreds of miles to get to their nearest microsystem. I'm not getting in on it, especially at these prices, but still interesting.
