As far as home equity, etc.... Different strokes for different folks. There's a million ways to skin a cat, but most Americans use stonks to retire in some way/shape/form... Ira/401/Sep-ira etc.
If you stop working, will you really be more profitable in the market?
I work and have loads of time to look at the market. (No kids crew)
I'm currently reading Edward Thorp's autobiography, and he challenges people actively trading vs indexing. Eddie thorp is literally one of the greatest and most profitable hedge fund managers who ever lived lmao.... Yet he advises towards indexing.
He also shows how looking at the increase in net worth y/y is your "return" as a functional human in the economy. You should look at your assets, income, investments, and decide where to put more of your time, and where to put less, depending on your return %

Any brahs trading on the TSX today?
Been doing well with SCR since the single game gambling announcement was confirmed in Ontario (jfl @ how long that has taken). Up over 50% in the last couple weeks.

Did every single stock just plummet instantly?
If tomorrow we have a similar crash (for example purposes, I know market is closed) and I'm staring at my portfolio, will I be able to react quickly enough to close all my positions (I only hold a few)?

I REALLY need to find a way to reduce this expense. I'm already high deductible, and my premiums are a tax write-off, but it's still fuarkin overpriced and I never use it.

I'm a little confused how that works. How does TSCRF relate to SCR.CA? Is it the same stock, out of the same share pool just converted over to the other currency?
SCR.CA Looking good today but now sure what that means for TSCRF tomorrow

Since I’m mostly in oil and gas and their prices are still down a lot compared to pre March I’m not worried about a crash, if I was in options or tech/bio/growth I’d be worried about a crash because those overbought non profitable “battery idea” companies have a long way to fall

You can hedge with puts on large long positions, or you can sell covered calls. One costs money and the other caps potential profit but that’s how you mitigate loss.

Im using TD now to get on more stocks. I'm still confused about "bid" and "ask", compared to just buying market. I don't see why any of that matters if there's hundreds of thousands, if not millions of shares available. I'm about to just try and buy at whatever the current market price is.

Did you bros know you can look up all the senators financial disclosures? As in how much money they are investing in what; including their spouse.
Probably some good info on what to invest in considering they probably have a good idea, of what to invest in

In short, no. But the bigger question is do you think you could determine if this was a catastrophic crash like in March or if it’s a sharp sell off like June or September? Imagine seeing -5-10% and then selling because you think it’s a crash, only for it to rebound in a week or three and now you’re fooked lol

Another example would be that the stock is trading at $20 with an ask of 1000 shares for $20.01, you put in a market order for 6000 shares and by the time it starts climbing up the ask ladder you're into paying $22 for the shares .

I'm curious how this is even possible - do they just do a liquidity injection into the largest index funds?
What about companies outside of any large index fund?

I’ve been trying spend today thinking about what to do this week but I keep getting too risky feelings. At least for the stocks I’m interested in (due to decently high IV). Not to mention I still have until the 29th until my first TSLA conundrum settles, and would like to stay as liquid as possible until then.
That said, PLTR is still very attractive but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a continued pull back. That ARK news was a great pump but damn that sell off could be a sign of more to come. If I do anything, I’ll be going big on 1/22 $30csp...
