I used to be addicted to substances to calm my nerves and take the edge off;
ask me anything
-I used to be addicted to substrances that calmed my nerves and took the edge off; now I'm in Christ and there is no edge.
-I am free from what used to enslave me for 11 years of my life.
-I'm free in Christ.
-The power of sin is broken in me and I'm changing, day by day by day.
-My language is different, my thoughts are higher, my priorities are better, my purpose is beyond myself, my 100% cleaver, skeptical, deprived, angry, addicted, sarcastic mind, is at complete peace.
-I've a complete, brand new creature in Christ.

Go.

Things work.... until they don't work anymore. Health problems start when you're 30 too, and your little problems, become mountains. It's like we all have a giant hole in the center of our chest, and we all are going to fill it with something. My whole world view, anger (I was so angry, I'd fly off the handles and want to fight for anything, especially when drinking or drugging), and you have a big shift in your world view of not being in the center of the universe.
Edit: You crush any arguments, like the hate above^ so easily with... change. Not being all about yourself, loving fellow man, dead to all the medical conditions listed above, and having peace for the first time in your life. There's just nothing that can take that away, like 2 high schoolers completely head over heels in love with each other...We've all seen a guy or a girl in a relationship that's not that into their other... and it's obvious to everyone, isn't it? "oh man, they're getting married? He doesn't seem that into her..."

Do you believe that Christ was always within you?
If so, do you believe that you were deaf and unresponsive to Christ's presence beforehand?
Upon your awakening to Christ, did clarity of thought and purpose seem to elicit forth -- seemingly out of nowhere?
Is the above image an accurate depiction of your own experience with struggle and adversity, or would a better one be the Self picking and supporting the Self?
None of the above constitutes legal advice nor should be interpreted as such.

I believe too, but how is doing drugs "sinning". When someone is hurting, they will reach for whatever they can to numb the pain. In most cases, that happens to be drugs. If someone held your hand to a hot stove, would you call it a sin to move your hand away? If you got stung by bees, is it a sin to take medicine?

All the way to the night I found Christ, drank a 5th of vodka, kicked out of an ex gf's party, started smashed mailboxes / railings, big dudes chased me, ran behind a tree because I was about to puke, came around the tree in a dark backyard, and leveled a dude, and broke part of my hand, fled, went to a strip club (because that's all life was, getting a high, getting pus whenever I wanted it), somehow convined a dancer to come with me after work... waited 15min, lost face, 1 other thing I don't feel like posting on a public form, and at 4 in the morning, when I was serious about ending it this time... something just told me,
"if you don't want your life, and are so ready to give it up, how about you give it to me instead? And i was shocked, and said fine, you can have my life, I don't want it. "
It wasn't instant, but there was instantly calm and peace, (I was still VERY drunk), and the next morning i was like.... uh... did I give my f****ing life to Christ last night? Did that happen???
Like I said, it's like the gym, there needs some growing time between where I was, engrained in the world, and letting go. (hence where spending time with God, the Word, more mature brothers in the faith, etc... comes in. You can't just fly by the seed of your pants, and expect change.

if you seeing jesus and hearing jesus talk to you then the drugs you been taking messed you up that you are hearing voices but cope with it by saying its jesus so that you feel better about your mental illness caused via drug abuse.
this is why alot of ex addicts ''find god'' and neeed god to sober up
this is just cope becuase in reality your brain is trying to come up with a story to tell yourself that you didnt do as much damage to it as you actually did via hiding it and calling it finding jesus.
you should accept that you are a low life drug abuser instead .. the truth will set you free.

by bender, what exactly do you mean?
In the past month I’ve probably been on four 40-45 hour benders without sleeping with the help of non stop alcohol and possibly other things but 7 days sounds a bit exaggerated. After one or two of them laying in bed for 2 days straight shaking and thanking the universe I’m still alive I find 7 days hard to believe
Unless you mean you went to bed and just started drinking again as soon as you woke up

Even Jesus likes to party brah. He would be disappointed in your ass.
Brah took pride in turning water into wine and here your ungrateful ass is getting off the liquor....
Unbelievable.

*It's amazingly cathartic because it's a sin problem, it's a personality defect, it's not, as that guy pointed out above "a sin to drink, etc".... It's a sin problem of self, and leads to death. One sin isn't worst than another. That's the biggest take away. That's why we use the term, "Free".

Anti-religion and anti-family are antisocial obsessions. These structure basic society, regardless of whether some specific logical exactness holds within them. Good luck trying to function in society while actually opposing these.
They do not need to be true. No other pragmatic frame exists.

Typically on like a Wednesday, I'd "reward my hard work", but going to dinner or a date, and typically drink a semi normal amount, (8-12 drinks?), and wake up hungover Thursday, and since I knew I was either going on another date or out with the boys since I didn't like back2back dates, and usually 1-3 of those tinder dates would fall through, flakes... I'd justify throwing a 6 pack or two back with some day drinking until it was time to go out.
Day 3, I'd be extremely hungover because the average height and weight of the 10+ guys in the group was like 6"2'. on coke, 265 lifter bros... I was one of the smaller, 6 ft, 210 lbs, consuming the same amount of whatever we were drinking, and thus start day drinking until friday night lights again.
Day 4, hangovers would go away, hunger would disappear, this was always the turning point. If I would manage to take it easy Saturday, I could make it without withdraw. But who wants to stop on the best night of going out? So ya...no.
Day 5, Sunday funday, half the crew wouldn't be out, and be done for the weekend, but when you go hard, you know surround yourself with the people who like to drink like you do, and just party on a boat, or the couple of poppin bars on Sundays. (basically the drug crowd, but I rarely did that, and I at least slept at night, unlike some of these guys that would be up for 3 days). A lot of times I'd be solo, too tired, not feeling well, not eating by this day, and stay home and drink (cheaper too) lying to myself I was going to be able to get out of this Monday before having to go to work.
Day 6, you can't sleep, you're not eating, chugging 4 shots of vodka every couple of hours not to shake, trying to drink minimal to not end up having to get medical attention.
Day 7, you're either going to work half drunk, going to the hospital, or shake shaking like a polaroid picture for the worst 24 hours of your life. fun times!
To answer you, ya I'd sleep. The problem is, I'm so hyper / ADD, that almost every night after I went to bed the early morning, I'd wake up 2-4 hours later, having massive anxiety, can't sleep, so I'd have my emergency bottles of flavor vodka and some ice, and chug a shot, go take a pee, do another, take a 30 second breather, take a 4th, and lay back down. Rinse and repeat to get up a couple hours later and start day drinking). If there was a girl in bed.... i'd wake up every 2 hours. So... sort of sleeping.

Haven't drank at all in like a year and some change, no sloots since about that time (funny how that goes hand and hand), and porn.... maybe stumbled a dozen times last year, lying to myself about stuff.
