CERN at it as usual. First they tear the fabric of society and then they tear the fabric of spacetime itself.

Shouldn't it be 'Les Cernettes Horribles'?

Was there a typo in the first internet meme? Sounds about right.

A few different benchmarks:

- 1994 Netscape became the first internet browser, allowing the public to use the internet

- 1998 Google is founded (one of many search engines at the time) allowing easier use of the internet

- 2007 The iPhone is announced, linking people to the internet for every moment of their waking lives.

It was like a joke band they had at Cern. And the French played a big part in the early internet along with British and the US

1995 is when AOL started becoming big. 1996/1997 it was giant (hence films like You’ve Got Mail in 98). Web was completely mainstream by 1998. “More mainstream” in the early 2000s is much too big an understatement. It was commonplace about like it is now at that point. People were already mostly moved to cable modems. Napster was at its heyday in 1999. P2P downloading and warez sites were at their peak by 2003.
