Misc Favorite Cocktails
Been messing around with liquor cocktails lately and was curious which ones are miscer favorites.
So far I have made:
1) Tom Collins - god mode lemony gin drink, goes down very quick and easy
2) Negroni - bitter sweet drink that is growing on me fast, pretty easy to lose pace on these as it's straight liquor/sweet vermouth
3) Gin Rickey - ****ty version of a gin and tonic, miss the quinine and do not recommend
4) Americano - like Negroni but lighter with substitution of club soda for gin, not as good in my opinion
5) classic martini - not for me really, kind of hate dry vermouth
6) classic margarita - way better than sugar chitfests I've had before, strongly recommend with just tequila, contreau and lime juice
About to make a sidecar shortly. Any recommendations not yet listed or variations of the above?

You're making a lot of old school gin cocktails. Any reason you're not trying other liquors?
If you're staying with a gin theme you can make a bee's knees easily with stuff you already have. And it will take a few fairly expensive ingredients that are out there enough I can guarantee you don't have them, but the hands down absolute best gin cocktail of all time is called The Last Word.
Most places don't have the stuff/know how to make one, so my go to gin cocktail is a negroni. Absolutely perfect cocktail.

For The Last Word, are there other uses for the green chartreuse and marachino liqueur if I decide to get the bottles?

I love a good Manhattan if it’s made right
Woodford reserve is usually my go to (most local places have it)
Biggest thing- Gotta stir it- if the bartender shakes it, instant fail- when it gets all aerated, not as smooth and flavor just isn’t there.

Maybe find a bar near you that can make one before you invest. The Last Word is in my top 5 cocktails of all time and I know more about cocktails than anyone on here (ded fkn srs) but the chartreuse alone is like $60 a bottle.
When you're ready to start your bourbon cocktails, learn Old Fashioned, Paper Plane EDIT: too slow ******* VVV, and Revolver. My 3 favorite bourbon cocktails.

Got the chartreuse and the luxardo, held off on the creme de violette for now. Saw a few other recipes with these two that look interesting so figured why not.

If you’re working through gin, I recommend the green gardener. It’s a drink you can get at matsuhisa (great Japanese restaurant).
60grams cilantro (1 bunch)
25grams fresh ginger (peeled)
12grams Serrano pepper
25 oz simple syrup
Purée above and strain. It’ll freeze and keep for a while.
1 oz of the purée
1 oz fresh lime juice
2 oz gin.
From mezcalphd.com.
gin works just as well. Recommend Roku gin.

I'm a rum guy. 2 of my favorites.
-Daiquiri. Rum's answer to the whiskey sour and the margarita as the basic sweet n sour drink. 1 shot white rum, 1/2 shot lime juice, 1/2 shot simple syrup. Tastes so phuckin crisp when you nail the right ratio (I cheat mine a little heavy on the sugar). Adding 1 drop of bitters is a killer trick too.
-Painkiller. 1 shot of dark or spiced rum, 3 shots pineapple juice, 1 shot of coconut cream, and a 1/2 shot splash of orange juice. I've been crushing the fawwwwk out of these lately, so fukking good. Tastes like an alcoholic Orange Julius.
What I've been doing is buying frozen orange juice and pineapple juice concentrate by the can, and mixing them together in a pitcher 50-50 to form the juice of the drink. Wood recommend/10. Super EZ to see how this could make a killer pitcher drink, alas I am an FA ******* and don't have friends to drink with.
Long Islands are my go-to "just fuk me up fam" drink. 1/2 shot each gin, tequila, rum, vodka, 1/2 shot syrup, 1/2 shot lemon juice, 1/2 shot triple sec/Cointreau, and as much Coke as will still fit in my glass.
These fukkers are dangerous, cause it's like 2.5 shots of liquor but it doesn't taste anything like 2.5 shots of liquor. Drinking one on an empty stomach hits me like a fukking truck. But they legitimately taste good, and sometimes you just want to get instablasted.
ETA: if you're into gin, there's a recipe called the English Garden I really like. I think it's 1 shot gin, 1/2 shot St. Germain, 2 or 3 shots apple juice, and a little splash of lime juice. Tastes about how you think it will.

Not a big fan of sugary colorful cocktails myself. My personal favourites are a good old Manhattan or an Aviation for something cheeky.

old fashioned

Classic gin and tonic is probs out of the question - cos its not really a cocktail is it. Otherwise I'd say that.
Strawberry Daquiri if im feeling fruity (but will only have one, cos I dont want diabetes)

my at home cocktails of choice are captain morgan rum/diet orange soda or deep eddy sweet tea vodka/lemonade. if i have some of my friends over for a super-spreader event, we make kamikaze shots
if I'm on vacation at an all-inclusive resort in a 3rd world country, i ******* to the max and drink pina coladas all day and mix in the occasional corona or pacifica beer
