Back at ya. I'm far from an expert but try to help when I can. I stopped thinking I could predict the market and time stocks long ago. I'll still take little opportunities here and there if something jumps out, but for the most part I'm all in indexes. Selling options is the only way I'm actively trading most of the time anymore. I actually haven't been putting much in my taxable accounts where I do this stuff because I've been focusing on getting my Roth started. I was dumb and put it off for way too long.

There's nothing necessarily wrong with it, and sideways movement is usually really good for iron condors. Personally, I don't think I'd get into HD right now though because IV is really low for them, which isn't ideal for entering most premium selling positions. They also have earnings coming up in a month, which will tend to increase volatility. However, you could do one in the Feb monthly cycle and avoid earnings if you really wanted to try something.

There are rumors that MMs are pinning it down because they don't want it to pop until after the merger (convenient excuse for bulls, eh)

Also post merger GHIV will be worth less than 6% of the parent company (UWM).. so there are fears that it might get diluted by a fair bit driving the price below $10

I think in a few years we'll be looking back wishing we'd put a ton of money in PLTR. Have been looking to get into it long term, then selling the $50 calls just came to me. I'd be fine with doubling my money in a year on a long term hold, plus a nice covered call premium.

Hmm CRSR is down a fair bit and has some nice 2/19 CC premiums ($2.74 @ $40 strike)

Edit: Bought 300 shares, opened three 2/19 CCs ($2.76 @ $40 strike)

Earnings on 2/9 I believe, if it moves above $40 I'll just buy shares to cover the loss

About PLTR and its demo day next week.

There is big drop on IV on PLTR and option volume.

Next week $30 are 0.3.

Whatever they are planning doesn't seem much hype is there.

Lot got burned on 1/22 options.

Its gonna require something big for them to moon.

If it were me, I'd be selling calls much closer in expiration. If you start in the March cycle, you can still get almost $1 for the $50 strike call, and you can do that 6-8 times until January, which should net more credit. I'd be looking at a closer strike though and collecting more early on and adjusting up or down with each new call as necessary.

You have potential to make more with 30-45 DTE with strikes 30% above current prices. A lot more.

PLTR has pretty much fallen by the way side of WSB, so I think it will be a lot more stable. It has the potential to absolutely explode depending on demo day, but as long as IV stays solid, I will continue to play with writing options.

As for 45 dte having more profit potential than say a leap, is you have diminishing returns when it comes to premiums. Right now for 2/19 expiry @ $34 strike (30% above current trading price) the premium is $1. OP was saying a 1/22/22 $50 strike is $4 and change. If you can average. Even if IV drops off, you should be able to average more than $.50 premiums every 30-45 days with "safe" strikes, which would yield way more than the OP's premium, and allows for far more flexibility.

I'm regretting not buying more ARKG a few weeks back. Got in at $93 and it just went off after that. Hoping this thing can get to $150 this year.

my initial for ARKG was 91.50. it's hard just to throw down though. just keep adding. it's hard because these things don't dip that much.

regretting ARKK initial buy in was 93.

regretting even more because somebody mentioned ARKK to me around 60 something. or was it ARKW which makes it even worse....
