The reason they don't go harsh on these convictions is so others come forward in the future to relieve their guilt or whatever and the innocent men can be pardoned knowing they (the women who admit to the false accusations) won't serve life for it.

I was only on that one jury. From what I saw though, the jury chicks just seemed to believe the "rape victim's" story without taking anything into reason rather than her saying she was raped. There were texts literally minutes after the dude left asking when her friend (the mothers house she was at babysitting, whom was her good friend) was coming over saying we should get drunk and have fun, then text, btw your friend just came by and your child I'm babysitting is still sound asleep, basically said "he was a cool dude". Can't remember exactly the texts but she wasn't raped. Much more but can't remember all the details it's been too long.

what if people are scared to come forward when they get raped, because the other party might have a good lawyer? although with clear cut cases like these, she should definitely face a big punishment. 1 year in prison to completely destroy the 2 lives is so lenient

Exactly, that's why the punishment should be worse for liars, so there's less. But it shouldn't be I don't believe this person either. That's why stricter punishment for liars is better.
