Discuss some of the dumbest crap you've heard covidcels say about the 'vid.

I've heard several people talking about how they haven't gotten a cold or flu this year, and how it MUST be because of masks. Therefore, they embrace the idea of masks indefinitely, because being exposed to a few germs once in awhile is just so inconvenient for them.

But if masks just shut down the common cold and flu, then why the hell is covid totally uneffected by it based on the biggest maskcel states/areas getting wrecked just as hard by covid as less restricted areas without as big of mask obsessions? If face rags are enough to stop other airborne viruses, then shouldn't they have a more significant impact on covid itself than basically... nothing? Also, I don't suppose the reduction in ancedotal evidence based claims of not getting colds or the flu could have anything to do with staying home about 10x more than we used to and having very minimal public social interactions due to lockdowns/restrictions. Or the blatantly manipulated covid numbers themselves, either...

"Restaurants are getting people sick"

- proceeds to get takeout, which is just food handled by a bunch of different people with questionable hygeine.

"im afraid of going to "x"

- goes in a big box store with hundreds of other people

"I think i have covid, i cant stop sneezing"

- has had seasonal allegies for a decade

Never get sick crew.

Masks definitely work, there's plenty of research pre-covid about using masks for droplet and airborne precautions if you somehow think everything post-covid was frauded. You have to be an idiot to think that masks don't work srs. It's basic virology and infection protection, you're just trying to cope with the fact you don't want to wear a piece of cloth on your face and trying to act like you're brave for doing it. Couldn't care less if you wear a mask or not, but acting like they don't cut down on transmission is just as smoothbrained as pretending that masks make it impossible to get infected.

Optimally you'll need an actual N95 opposed to a simple mask though, plenty of ICU nurses I know have gotten the vid from running into a room when a patient is dying and they don't take the time to put on their actual N95 opposed to a simple face mask. The reason you see the maskcel states getting wrecked is because the majority of transmission is from friends and family you aren't wearing masks around, everyone takes them off when they're not around strangers.

for a mask to work, it has to be fitted perfectly to a person's face (just lol @ one size fits all when nurses/doctors do aerosol testing to make sure that the size is correct), have a sufficient degree of tiny particle filtration, and used only once

nobody is doing that

your snotty bandana or mask that your mom sewed for you ain't doing chit in either direction

the whole thing just comes down to the virus interacting with the true pandemic: obesity

I know a bunch of people who try to talk about how they "think" they already had it before. I know one young dumb broad who is like 21 who talks about how she gets winded so easily these days when using a treadmill or doing her asss excercises at the gym, so she thinks it must be because she had covid a long time ago and just didn't realize it at the time. Meanwhile, the attention seeking broad openly talks about how she's diagnosed with a train wreck of mental health issues like "anxiety", among other bullchit.

I'm pretty confident she's just delusional and/or attention seeking as usual when she rails on about her belief that she must have had covid like a year ago causing her to be so short on breath despite never having been particularly sick during any of the covid bs, or shortly before it began.

You aren't supposed to be asking questions. But I've heard covid19 particles are smaller than non covid19 particles. Yeah, I really heard that.

In other words, you fully admit and agree that "simple masks" (an N-95 isn't even just a mask, it's literally a respirator) don't do chit from a practical standpoint for various reasons. What are we supposed to do, all wear N-95's 24/7 forever, or what?

As to your "masks were proven to work before covid" bs, please do explain yourself. Mask wearing in terms of preventing virus spread was always considered highly questionable by western medicine standards until a couple months into covid fear mongering crap, right up to Faucci himself. Yeah they might stop some visible droplets, but they aren't doing a fkn thing to stop the supposedly rampent spread by asymptomatic people.

Im more of this mindset than anything else.

My stepdad tested positive. All he did was lose smell and taste. He also has had heart surgery before and he feels 100% save for the loss of those senses.

Ive been around him with and without a mask and I tested negative(had to get it for work).

There is probably a coorelation between the healthy staying healthy and the unfit suffering.

'In other words', nope. I said exactly what I said. Simple face masks works better than nothing, and work better with a real surgical mask. Pretending that wearing a bandana around your face counts is a joke. They do not completely reduce transmission to nothing, that doesn't make them useless. Also JFL at saying an N95 isn't a mask because it's a respirator. A respirator is a specific type of mask you goon.

I have never heard anyone in Western medicine question the use of a simple face mask as precautions, it's been the standard for a long time. I'm sure you can find some studies questioning if they work, just like you can find random contradictory studies to almost anything in science that had been well investigated. Please, show me a meta-analysis claiming that simple masks do not help with respiratory virus if you're going to claim science is on your side here. I'll happily change my mind.

Alot of research pre-covid 19 on masks haven't shown to be effective. Some of the research has shown that any type of mask is only effective if you show symptoms of the virus; it would do very little wearing a mask if you present no conditions (coughing/sneezing) and most people I would presume would stay at home if they ever presented as such. Also other studies that show asymptomatic/pre-symptomatic spreading isn't really thing. But more will have to be researched.

You already had Dr Fauci and the Surgeon General at the beginning of the pandemic essentially saying that masks do not work and won't be effective. Were they lying? Or were they following the decades of research on it? Or did the research somehow do a 180 on this? Besides, people are literally wearing used condoms over their mouth and people have questionable hygiene to begin with, so are re-using the same chit over and over again and do things like touch their mask, touch other surfaces, etc. It's one thing testing it in a lab to having RCTs showing that masks are beneficial versus not significantly the number of people getting COVID. What works in theory inside of a lab in a controlled environment doesn't always present that way in reality which is subject to all sorts of social, political, economic variables and interactions. Literally nobody wore a mask in public pre-covid, even if they were showing some symptoms except maybe a few asians who wear it more so as a sign of consideration to others to not get their germs on other people. The literature literally didn't warrant this at least when western practices is concerned but now it's suddenly "wear masks, save lives".

Also, masks don't seem to really make any difference when in very close proximity to another person. Not anti-mask but saying they definitely "work" is a bit of a stretch, especially when cloth masks are concerned. Not to mention people's behaviours change with masks that can end up making the risk of transmission higher. You also just (perhaps inadvertently argued) that masks really aren't effective as a public mandate/order because most of the transmission would come from family/friend gatherings say inside of homes. I would also argue that mask mandates in public are ineffective as well, at least based on the numbers it doesn't seem like from the very institution of a mask mandate (at least in my city), it seemed to have overall impact case numbers at all. Numbers if anything rose but I guess you could argue summer was ending and schools began to open and that we are approaching flu season. But who knows really.

"masks work" - no evidence of this, actually evidence of the contrary. Masks when utilized correctly can be effective. But rewearing masks, the hand to face contact of taking them off and on when at a store, reusing them without washing, - aka 99% of application just contaminates the mask while adding more hand to mouth touchpoints. This is parroted by people who have the need to feel morally superior and pat themselves on the back while doing nothing at all (libs)

"it's dangerous to young people too. You cant predict it" - wrong. This data is readily available. Is almost no measurable risk to young and healthy people. To act like it isn't is just disingenuous/misleading.

"It's X times more deadly than the flu" - wrong. Flu is more deadly, assuming you catch it. Flu only kills a lot less because hey we have a vaccine for it. But if you get both, the flu is actually more likely to kill you full on srs

There are legitimate reasons to take precautions from COVID. But if you're young and healthy then you should be exposing yourself (safely) to other individuals, you should be leaving your house and getting activity in and sunlight, you should be hitting the gym even with added contact risk. To do the opposite and shut in is much worse for your health. But we have never lived in a time when you can call yourself a hero for doing nothing at all, so this is the result

You're attributing a lot of random chit to me that I never said. I've said nothing about wearing old condoms over your face, mask mandates, or whether or not Fauci was lying (he was). Obviously if you are wearing masks improperly or wearing ineffective ones they aren't going to do anything, saying they're ineffective because of this is like saying dieting and exercising don't work while eating fastfood and doing 20 rep bench press all day.

If you show me any sort of meta-analysis or discussion pre-covid that truly questions the validity of face masks against respiratory viruses I would happy to view them and change my mind on whether or not they work. Otherwise I'll safely assume that most anti-maskers read a couple random studies questioning the mainstream opinion like exists for every widely-studied bit of scientific consensus and think that means everything is a lie. I'll continue to wear one in public, couldn't care less what you or others do.

There's 70 years of data showing that masks do nothing to inhibit airborne virals. It's conveniently ignored.
