Furthest distance you've traveled to get a food you can't find anywhere else?

You were in a city 200 miles away and you had [insert food here]. You can find places that serve the same type of fare near you, but it's nowhere near the same quality and/or taste. Would you/have you gone on a mission to get it?

Longest distance for me is 220 miles for Jamaican food. Got 2 party trays of Rice and Peas, Tray of curry goat, stewed chicken, curry chicken, and oxtail. Worth every second of driving.

That's crazy. I saw it on a food marathon(the channel escapes me) show on YT, and people were drowning their food in the white sauce. Is the hot sauce as spicy as they say or were the people being little bitches?

Yep. No Fuks given if I travel that far to just eat that chit. Eat away. Did the same on a short international trip in 2019. Put on like 6lbs of lard in 10 days lol

The sauce is spicy yes but everyone’s tolerance is different. I used to eat very hot foods and get chit (like wing or curries) super hot but ice started appreciating and enjoying medium hot as I feel you can taste the flavors much better since the mouth is not on fire.

Back then it was more like yea make it hot like a mfer cuz I can handle it and I’m alpha as fuk

RIP taste buds. I remember the first time I had indian food. I was around 19 or so. The waiter asks me what spicy level I would like, and I poke my chest out and say I want the hottest level they offer. Dude rolls his eyes, and asks "Are you sure?", and I reply with even more confidence "Yes, I'm sure". He just replies "Ok" with this "alright you asked for it " tone. He brings it out, and doesn't even leave, he wants to watch me destroy my mouth. I take a bite, and it hits me immediately. I try to tough it out, but It's just too much. He saves me by saying he can bring the same thing, but in a more reasonable spice level. I concede and he brings me something in the mild plus range. Didn't even charge me for it.

Can't remember if they were or not, it was the middle of the night also. Was like 22 when this happened. I do know we brought back like 2 dozen though.

I've flown all the way across the world and traveled, but not for eating food. The point of the thread is how far you would go to get food like right now. No one is going to fly to China to solely eat Chinese food unless you were ballin.

Farthest I've ever gone for food was 400ish miles to Canada to get some legit Poutine. We were sitting down on a Thursday in college and we were reminiscing on Poutine that we had when we were there. We had off on Friday and Monday, so we said fuk it, we'll drive up with a group of guys and spend the weekend there. Drove 400 miles to the spot and we legit ate it everyday, it was marvelous. Also spent the weekend having fun and going out, a trip to remember for a lifetime.

My one friend has a dad who works for the airlines, and legit all of the time he'll hop on flights for free that go all the way down to Texas, Kansas City, etc. for lunch and then fly back the same day, chits insane.

Flew from St. Louis to Nairobi Kenya to eat at a restaurant called The Carnivore. Had to climb Mt Kilimanjaro first.

It's a 75 mile drive to Tulsa Oklahoma for me, I buy raw oysters in the shell and alligator at a speciality seafood store.
