Not to mention, he must have placed a phone order because theres really no way to screw that up on their trading platform. Expensive lesson but thats the way it goes. This is not a kids game.He used margin.
"I decided to buy 100 OTM (Feb 05 570 strike) calls and put in a market order for them before market opened. I estimated the price to be around $100 at most. It ended up filling for just a bit over at 110. That part was fine. But instead of buying 100 calls, I bought 100 contracts. 10,000 calls. I don't think even I'm retarded enough to forget 1 call contract = 100 calls. I'm thinking it was some kind of glitch in their system. Of course I only slept 6 hours last night, so my brain could possibly have crashed.
For some reason, the order went through and I was down nearly a million in cash. I rushed to sell, but my broker's (Royal Bank of Canada) was down. By the time it was back up, GME had crashed. RBC liquidated all my calls for far below what my buy order filled at and destroyed my account. Then, as we all know, GME rebounded. If they didn't touch any of my positions I would have been fine. Taken a big loss maybe but not negative $300k in cash. The interest charged for negative balances is 21% annually."
edit: Actually wait.
he bought 100 calls (those calls feb 5th 570$ strike) were $110 this morning.
so he bought $1.1 million worth of call options.
right now those contracts are trading at $55 each.
why would broker sell on him? he got margin called on wait down? broker protecting their margin? thinking gme will crash and burn.

This squeeze is being caused by OPEN INTEREST not short interest. It takes some mental taekwandoe but you can figure it out.

If anything GME ran out of steam due to the tampering and ruined its momentum.
The best bet is to have a 2nd stock get pumped as a show of power by the meme-sters.
Out of AMC/NOK/BB probably AMC has the best shot of short term rocketing if they dont keep tampering and suspending everything.

HF short position is what? $20 down to $6? Then back up to $40 on the first spike? EVEN IF HF didnt start buying calls until $100, the spread is only $20 to $100 which is only $80. If they bought calls at $100 and it went to $340, the spread is $240!
Which is more $240 or $80? Lol. Of course HF will come out on top. Thats what happens when you have billions at your disposal.

It'll be insane when they actually have testimonials from users if they do a broader annual presentation.

Another problem is, if the broad market correction happens, these overvalued companies are the first to drop near the levels they started with. And with this GME situation we might see the correction soon.
I want to go big on PLTR again but currently not sure if the potential upside is worth the risk. I believe in the company but this is not a healthy growth, 250% since the listing few months back
EDIT: also the lockup expiry is another issue

What about George Soros with the British pound in 1992?
That was a speculator vs a central bank, and the bank lost.
This is a very crazy thing, but it isn't "new" by any means.
