And GME trading at $330 from $3 and people think it is undervalued?

You can't get a bigger sign of a top than that lol.
I don't think GME trading at $330 has anything to do with the overall market. It's just an anomaly; the only reason it's happening is because someone found out it was short squeezed to oblivion and through the power of social media, tons of people are getting in on it. If this GME thing wasn't happening right now, we would be in the exact same spot as the week before.

I really don't understand why people are saying this is a sign that the market is at the top, if something like this gains an audience in any market you would have massive people piling in to get a slice of the pie. How does that correlate to the market strength/weakness?

Used the rest of my buying power on RH to buy $140 AAPL calls and some shares. Can't wait to close my RH account though.

It's the overall sentiment in the market. Tons of people piling in and signs of irrational exuberance everywhere. It's entirely possible that this goes on but it's worrisome to see these red flags.

That is the exact scenario that creates the top. Over exuberance and fearlessness that it cant go down. FOMO will make it go parabolic.

Parabolic will follow with a 40% drop (from lift off to peak) in half the time it took to get to the peak.

BUT I dont think this event is big enough to plummet the broader market. If WSB tries to go at SPY, which is doubtful, and they had the same following then...

Lurkers who are blindly jumping into GME (not all of you) please check out the following links.

They haveDECREASEDtheir short positions from yesterday's manipulation, it's around75% now from +140%at the start.
the situation (1/29 10 AM ET):

- short interest: 75.54% of float by Ortex, 113.31% of float by S3 Shortsight
- short share public availability: 0
- shorts are exiting their positions, but an amount of shares equal or almost equal to float is still shorted.
- robinhood and other brokerages didn't have the capital to place buy orders at times yesterday. Robinhood is apparently going so far as to liquidate GME shares in accounts that are not using margin trading(!) If you're still on robinhood, you should find a new broker ASAP. Retail brokers who didn't blow up completely yesterday include:
- vanguard
- td ameritrade
- fidelity

I agree with this.

Yea we've been in a huge bull market for like the last decade and who knows if the top is in. It probably should be in but with the fed propping up who knows.

But I think a lot of the GME/AMC meme stocks is more of a movement than a dotcom bubble situation. If you browse twitter/stocktwits/wsb or whatever you'll see tons of people just buying 1 or 2 shares and not even caring if they lose money because they feel like it's the only way they can rise against people who they deem responsible for what's wrong in America.

The dotcom bubble was just people wanting to speculate and make money.

Tech stocks are already at the tail end of massive runs. Do we want to look at YOY numbers?

FAANG is up like 70% YOY. Tesla is up 603% and Nio is up damn near 1,300%

Why are they telling me how much of stock I can purchase? This is crazy

Its undeniable that shady chit goes on behind the scenes to manipulate the markets, but this is another level. How is that even possible?

It absolutely has been in the past. I agree with others that the overall market exuberance is off the charts at the moment. Everyone talking about the market right now, many who have showed zero interest in it their entire lives.

Will it lead to some sort of crash or harsh correction this time around? No idea but the warning signs and historical evidence are all there.

I had thought about mentioning TSLA in my post as that's certainly a tech stock that is out of the norm, but TSLA isn't just a car company. It's one of those companies that people "believe" in, especially because of Elon himself. It's an anomaly, for sure. I think it's definitely overvalued based on earnings, but who knows. People "invest" based on potential, and TSLA has a lot of that.

Other tech stocks however, are just reacting due to COVID. With lockdowns and social distancing and the need for technology to keep us going, this was a natural progression, IMO. If COVID hadn't hit, we wouldn't be seeing the valuation that we are with tech stocks right now.

Tech stocks didn't go up because of some "bubble" type situation (in my opinion), they went up based on how the economy needed to shift due to COVID. Good example is AMZN - people wanted to get everything ordered online instead of risking it at stores, so naturally AMZN gained a ton of marketshare. That and the fact that so many businesses had to shut down, it's not a surprise in the least that AMZN ballooned like it did. You can say the same for other tech companies too.

75% is still HUGE. That means 3 out of every 4 shares available needs to be bought to cover. Exponential gains are always had in the last part of the squeeze. I called $200 a long time ago now IMO it still has legs to $1,000

Early Gen-X . . . but yeah, Pets.com and nonsense like that was pretty epic at the time. You have dotcom in your name? Here's a few billion in valuation--don't worry too much about actual product or revenue.
