Layne Staley Amazing Voice RIP Alice In Chains and Mad Season Lead Singer

You can hear the soul and pain of addiction in his voice. We were talking about him in the Staind thread.






He sadly died of a speedball after years of heroin and crack abuse. So sad

Used to listen to Mad Season, AIC, and PJ to put me in the zone before my high school golf tournaments. That was in the early 90's and I'm still not tired of them.

AIC is prob the only grunge band I really like. I do love Chris Cornells voice but wasn't much of a fan of Soundgarden.

Exact opposite here, loved Soundgarden and absolutely hated everything he did after. Started listening in 1987 and stopped buying new stuff after 1996 until the latest SG album.

It's probably pretty cliché to say because it gets some of the most radio play but Rooster is my favorite AIC song. Hits me in the feels every time.

Agreed. Probably the best out of the decade. There was a band a few years back called Taproot. The singer was the closest to Layne I've ever head before

I liked all of the grunge bands and enjoyed Audioslave, too.

I just started listening to grunge again as my teenage daughter started playing it. Brings back great memories of those carefree college days srs before career jobs and mortgage. 50 cent beers on Thursday nights after group project meetings and no class on Fridays.
