Midwayusa sent me an email today from and order from like 2 months ago. My package went missing so they sent another. It was delivered and then the old order got delivered too. $50 worth of parts so figured no big deal.
The email today was like you need to return the 1 order or we are charging you. Over $50? K then, I’ll do all my ordering with Brownells.

Since I didn't work there for 5 years, the matching isn't vested, and there's no penalty for withdrawing (other than taxes).
I can roll it over and not pay taxes on it until I retire, which is probably the smarter move.
I can roll it over and not pay taxes on it until I retire, which is probably the smarter move.
There is a psychology play with retirement money you always want to consider. When life planning (budget), it's always best to segment any money used planned for "retirement" for just that- nothing else no matter what. This works better when planning as a marital team as well- it helps the wife filling her role and mindset.
So when you have a need, or opportunity, for retirement funds movement- always move it to a retirement portion of your portfolio no matter what- otherwise you'll be screwed later. It's an understanding family discipline thing.
One of the biggest rules about retirement money- Don't over contribute - or you will undoubtedly have to break that psychology tool. As well always contribute- even if it's small at some time, always have some contribution. Overcontributing causes retirement plan failure.
Now that being said- it's always good to run the math- math rules- but if it's uncertain math- go with a rollover into your most comfortable vehicle.
The math you would do here is run a spreadsheet with the taxes you pay on a full distribution, putting that into an account- and then work out what the growth will be and what you think taxes will look like when you retire. (my guess is they will be at a higher rate). compare that to leaving it in- paying taxes later at the rate you think it will be later.
When I think of 401k- I think of maxing out matching contributions. 99.9% chance you will get no matching contributions for a rollover unless your company has some weird obscure plan they do as a taxable bonus payment. Other than that, I wouldn't put anything else into a 401k because of the limitations on asset allocations, and control.
I like to have control of my funds as much as possible- and with the 2 IRA options I will for my entire life no matter who tf I work for or with.
This would be my thoughts on the best possible options.
1. Take the full distribution/pay taxes now- If I still qualify for a Roth (once your income is too high you won't anymore) you can place it there. This won't be a rollover, so it will count towards your yearly maximum contribution. If you were going to max that contribution anyway- then this would be pointless- consider step 3 or 4. This is to pay the taxes now, and don't pay any tax on growth later. In addition, this vehicle gives you more options for use of funds, such as paying for college. You will have 100% control of asset allocations.
2. Roll it into a traditional IRA. Basically a pay taxes later. This money won't count as the yearly contribution max- so you can still contribute what you normally would. You will have 100% control of asset allocations.
3. Take the full distribution/pay taxes now- Put the funds into a 529 college savings plan for your kids.
4. Take the full distribution/pay taxes now- Open custodial Roth IRA for your kid's as a college savings plan.

If you talk to one of the people at Schwab or Fidelity when setting it up, they can give some guidance to make it easy for you.
5. Make an online investment account specifically earmarked for retirement. This won't have any unique advantages- but it's good to have that overspill retirement account.
If I was personally in your situation, I'm rolling it into my traditional IRA.
You may get some people saying "hey if it's in your 401k you can borrow against it" , meh.

I've done more speculation investing these past few weeks than ever before in my life.
rumor out on the street is these reddit investment savants are targeting silver for the next squeeze. These fukin hedge fund managers are probably chitting oily omaha steak greese out of their buttcheeks and getting their expensive leather office chairs all oily from sitting on them all day
im buying a few silver EFT 3x funds just for the luls.

Trying to figure a CC holster for my Glock 19.
Anyone ever try a bwb deep conceal holster?
I'm pretty much having to wear a tucked shirt with a black belt on all day.
Was thinking of something like this as an option.
Anyone ever try it?
https://www.cherriescounterterror.co...alment-holster
Back in "the day" we used to have a seamstress sew in an internal belt loop, and a cord- put a weapon in a clip belly holder low with grip about 2-3 inches bellow belt line - yank out and cord keeps holster down and off. Not sure that method is cool these days... lol
I was looking at that urban carry gen 3- that just seems kinda weird, IDK
Makes me think I should get a 43 or Sheild 2.0 also for CC

Interesting concept, but that seems like a whole lotta gun to have below your belt line. With a G19 that’s gotta be uncomfortable. I can’t imagine that it’s very comfortable regardless which pistol you’re carrying.
Is there a reason that you’re not into a regular tuckable IWB holster? That seems like your best option by a mile. Maybe you’re just not aware that they exist.
Many (most?) holster companies offer tuckable IWB holsters in kydex, leather, etc. The holsters are basically the same as any other, but they use belt clips that allow the user to wear a tucked shirt. The only thing that’ll be visible is a belt clip (or two).
Obviously it’ll be easier with a smaller pistol, but that’s up to you.

When I wore a shirt and tie to an office everyday, I used a 430 IWB holster. No one ever noticed the extra belt loops.

Yea, i’m going to need to get one more a little smaller- or just stick to my old 5 shot wheel in a pocket.
That thing has about 10 ft of accuracy lol.
I’ll go test for the 43 and a shield 2.0 and figure something smaller for concealment.
Maybe ez sheild?
I am pretty damn visible, and rarely ever have a sports coat on.
I’m trying to find a picture of the old way we used to do it with a cord an compact pistols. Worked well.
Basically right over our junk, but never really seem to be bothersome or noticeable.
After trying out at the range again, I have again reconfirm there’s no way in heck I’ll go to a red dot on pistol.- so I will at least save that room....
I’m just trying to come up with an excuse to buy another one.

It was pretty interesting overall...he learned that he needs to modify his cover garment and whole carry / holster situation. He ended up getting the pistol hung up a lot, and as a result, got shot a lot. I learned that I need to be more aggressive...when I won the draw I had no issue being extremely lethal. On one occasion when my draw got hung up, I bugged out and ran for cover taking a round to the spine. I'm not overall upset with performance, it went very well, but in that once case I can't help but think I should have charged him and kicked him or something.
Anyway, given the ammo shortage if you aren't training with airsoft you're doing yourself a disservice.

Debating on whether or not I want to get this, been interested in black powder guns, and this would be a neat one to start on for a cheap price.

This dude knows almost exactly what I was talking about
We use the kind of stuff like that system with a seamstress helping us with a basically a soft cloth pouch on the inside so it wouldn’t cousin irritation.
It was actually very comfortable, and worked.
It’s not the quickest draw for sure.
I might just play around and try to makeshift some thing with this
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GVPPW38...16S69YBZS7CHQ7
An improvised version of what you see here but with a placement pouch and soft carry.
Instead of using the belt like that guy does, or the pants button- I would have another inner loop sewn in.
$50 rig tops- i’m going to bet it works just fine. Not even really trying to save money I just think it’s funny how much people pay for rigs salt weapons these days.
If there’s a modern thing that works excellent and cost money -I’m fine with paying for it I just don’t see it yet. Still new to buying chit again though.

I spent $55 bucks for my kid to watch the Royal Rumble and there’s fookin ads. Are you kidding me?
I don’t even pay for UFC fights for myself and then I buy the Royal Rumble and have to see them trying to sell crap?

Some obligatory Arsenal pics since I’m new to this thread.
This is my beside Dan Wesson 44 mag- stainless with interchangeable barrels.
And used the f out of.... needs a good cleaning
Included is the crusty old range case my father gave me 31 years ago to carry it in.
I made all the ammo in it and the speed loaders- imr 4227 with 240 semi wad cutters.
The ammo was about 30 years old as well...- even what I have remaining in my speed loaders. Made with a lee single stage press set up I had in basement.
Prob time to change that and put the old ammo in a museum lol.
I put it next to my new Glock 19 gen 5 for size comparisons

You can plink a pie pan on the reg at 100 yards with that thing

This is my LAR 45 win mag.
It’s an oversize 1911 style with ambidextrous safeties, grip depressor safety, crowned and polish throated barrel, beveled magazine well, comp, etc- high grade steel steel , etc
I have a conversion kit for it for 45 ACP and 10 mm.
That currently has a 10 mm conversion in it. You can write your name on a target with it.
The 45 WinMag round is an extended 45 ACP that will shoot a 230 grain fmj at 1600 fps
I have a picture of the round below- the 45 win mag is to the right, a new 44 mag in the middle , and 10mm on the left.
I made that 45 win mag and 10 min round 30 years ago also.
Put the Glock in for size comparison

This was my car gun for a while- I moved to a Glock 21 cause it got messy....
Glock 21 ended up stolen later

The email today was like you need to return the 1 order or we are charging you. Over $50? K then, I’ll do all my ordering with Brownells.
