I reinstalled my Schwab platform so I could see the order book, and it's literally flashing at me right now: "good luck borrowing shares m8".

This was a bloody day and will scare a lot of people into abandoning the trade, but the underlying thesis is still strong unless they've found a way to clear the short positions. I don't think we'd have seen a day like this if they were buying to cover. There's sizable support in my book at $200, and some resistance setting up at $250, but otherwise it's pretty good up to $300.

If the demand is there, which means the shortshaveto start covering to clear it, as far as I'm concerned. I doubt there will be an influx of new money otherwise, but they can still be forced if the longs hold. If longs do not hold, they will wipe out their own support easily.

I've definitely seen what appears to be some profit-taking at $215/$218 this afternoon. 29,000 shares just before the close, another 24,000 in one block after-hours. Seems to be a sweet spot where some people bailed, and probably where the shorts covered their doubled-down high-cost positions from the top and took some profits.

I tend to agree with you, but there's plenty of room for this to fall apart if people get scared. The shorts pay interest on the borrowedvalueof their position, not the original cost, so every dollar it drops makes it easier for them to hold on. Will watch carefully and with interest, but there's not much support under $180 last time I looked and if it falls through that level, I think the play is probably boned.

EDIT: The book will change over time, to be clear. New orders could appear to build support. Just not necessarily counting on that, as opposed to people taking profits.

Uptick Rule should also be in effect tomorrow, which will make it harder for the bear raids to short ladder.
