December 2019 - 1000 rounds of Speer Gold Dot 147g jhp for 38 cents per round

January 2020 - 500 rounds of Blazer Brass 115g fmj basically for free. Was a PSA deal for MP Shield 8 round mags with ammo thrown in. Got 10 mags and 500 rounds for $234


Was mostly into handguns for a while, as a result of being in the poor crew and handgun ammo being much cheaper than rifle ammo

Then last summer I remember posting in this thread about how it was painful to buy 5.56 for 47 cents per round

I was under the impression most people here are more survivalists/preppers vs wannabe militia types.

Could be wrong though. I’d fall under the survivalist/hobbyist category I think. Don’t have any dreams of overthrowing the government, just want to be as self sufficient as possible and shooting is fun.

Gun control represents the government taking away my ability to be self sufficient. They want me to rely on them for my safety? No, unacceptable. It’s akin to slavery. What will I do about it? Idk we will see. If their aren’t enough like minded individuals nothing will be done, obviously.

For you guys who are Larry Vickers fans, he posted yesterday that he is battling cancer.

From his ******** page:

Ok so it’s time to public; I was recently diagnosed with follicular lymphoma. I am willing to bet this came from my time in Delta because of the dangerous fumes and toxic chemicals we are exposed to. I say this because I know at least two Delta operators I served with that died from various types of cancer. One was well known as ‘Dalton Fury’ in the book world. I noticed a bump on my left cheek below my left eye awhile back- if you look closely in the Laugo Arms Alien video on my YouTube channel you can spot it. It never got any better, only worse, so after a Covid test ( it came back negative) my new doctor asked about any other issues. I mentioned the bump on my face and he immediately put a series of tests in place to investigate. That is what started the chain of events that led to now - I’m in a Charlotte NC cancer center getting my first chemo. Because of this I have canceled all training classes for the next 7 months ( the projected length of the cancer treatment). The risk of dying from Covid while taking chemo is 20% or 1 in 5. Needless to say traveling was off the table immediately due to the risk of exposure. The good news in all of this is that lymphoma is a very treatable type of cancer with an excellent prognosis. They say I will lose my hair. If so I will embrace that fully and continue filming for my YouTube channel. Unfortunately I will not be able to teach any classes in person for several months - fall 2021 will be the earliest. I appreciate all the well wishers that I know in the industry that have reached out to me to offer support. My wife in particular has really been super supportive thru this process. I’ll keep everyone posted and most likely do a video in regards to my lymphoma in the near future. Thanks to all of you for support over the years and the positive thoughts and prayers on my behalf. I appreciate it more than words can describe. I will absolutely beat this, put it in remission and drive on full speed ahead with all my firearms Industry related endeavors. Its a .300 BO so with this 8" im still getting good groups at 300yds. It's purpose isn't for long range.. i have other rifles for that. It's as accurate as you want it to be under 200yds which is great.

Farley will disagree, but that ammo was fantastic in the 2 classes I ran it, one with the wife and one without. 3k rounds in 2 days with 2 rifles, and another 1k in 2 days with a single rifle.

I haven't purchased or shot any Frontier, but there are enough horror stories out there I don't intend to. May have been bad lots and luck of the draw, not sure. Don't know or care not buying lol

Think my most memorable failure from a round was Speer Gold, was doing my qual with the Mini 14 and the case tore in half, back half ejected and the front was wedged in the chamber and the next round fed into it. Chamber didn't fully close so luckily no bang, just a quick rack on the charging handle and it ejected the (now interesting looking) bullet.

All comes down to luck of the draw IMO with ammo. Winchester White Box has always been great to me as example, thousands of rounds and very few failures, FTF is all sst times, maybe a handful.
Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.

One thing I learned today about myammo heist- i’m consistently gonna be patient and only get it under $.50 a round.

i’ll be able to get a little heads up when the delivery is coming to Academy, and a couple other places, i’ll just gradually build it up.


i’m still convinced dirty capitalist will kick in, and demand will soon be met.


I’m going to guess it levels out about five weeks after the next stimulus check run

I don't think so bro. Right now, every ammo retailer on the planet knows they can list their chit for any price and it's gone instantly. The only thing holding them back from all charging $1.50/rd is that people would get pissed about "price gouging" and it would hurt their reputation. So they just slowly keep raising prices 10% a month.

You saw what happened with toilet paper. Hoarding begets hoarding. When there's a threat of govt restriction, it's even more true.

Right now demand isn't slightly higher than supply. Demand is like, exponentially higher than supply.

We won't see a significant recovery on the ammo front until mid-term elections, at best. If that goes poorly...

There has to be a better way to attach a sling to A2 stock, went shooting today and this blue force attachment kept getting into my face and what not. It even came "undone" and slid up

Bout to just drop the stock and put a collapsible one on it
