Have you lost any friends due to political differences?

Anybody lose any friends cause of political differences here? Obviously political talk isn't as popular anymore since the election is over but did anyone lose any when it was popular/talked about?

Yup, had two people when Trump was elected pull the "not my president" card and I responded with a simple, but he is though. Both unfriended me.

Not political, except people too weak to not 'keep the peace' and stand up to stuff I would not want around, like druggie lowlives.

Not even making a political statement here, or trying to give red meat to the misc, but literally the only people who have ever severed friendships are liberals who find out I’m not a democrat, and have never lost or seen people lose friends from conservatives who disagree

Liberals / Dems tie their morality to their political ideology. There’s a famous saying that i didn’t understand when younger but get now:

Yes. Plenty of "friends" I've known since high school went down the BLM / All Cops Are Bad road this summer. Sucks to see people I've known most of my life suddenly tell me I'm a racist because of what I do for work, or tell me how to better do my job despite them having 0 training or experience doing anything remotely related to the job.

I have a few friends that were willing to engage in discussions, which is fine/nice even if their opinions differ. But the ones that were totally brainwashed into thinking xyz, nope. Never deleted anyone or anything, because who cares? But definitely dropped contact with a few people. If you're going to assume I'm bad/racist/whatever, why continue to be "friends"?

Not worth being friends with someone who can't respect you for having different political opinions.
It was all just satire. Sorry if I offended anyone with my trolling and sickening posts. Peace and love to everyone.

Yes, and those kind of people are better off not associating with anyway.

I lost friends because I told him about the low fatality rate for Covid and even if you took the death statistics at face value (in which case, you’d be an idiot) it still had 99% survival rate.

My theory (not just mine) is that Woke-ism is a religion, not a political viewpoint about optimum government administration. Seems similar; people embracing a ready made code of conduct/belief system, spreading their message, shunning heretics, apostates, and hardened non-believers.

Definitely agree

Not saying there isn’t a similarity with trump die hards who viewed him like a cult leader, no one on the left (not even biden, sanders or AOC) has that kind of appeal

But there really aren’t crazed educated conservatives like there are libs. As others have stated have seen a lot of friends with too much time on their head fall to wokeism and it really is modern day brain washing

Not really.

A lot of people have unfriended me on ******** though, and I assume many are due to political posts I've made (even though I'm pretty sure I've made less than a dozen from 2015 - present), so I don't know if that sort of counts.

This is what happened to me. I feel like my one friend was usually a bad friend at least recently anyways for various reasons and then having different opinions just made it easier to lose the friendship.

No, because even though we have political differences, we are still friends. Anyone who would drop me as a friend because of my political views wouldn't be my friend it the first place.

Closest circle of friends turned on me and stopped answering me, inviting me to chit. Because I am hispanic(so are they) and my opinion of Trump wasn't like theirs(they HATED trump blindly) exposing biden in those videos where he is creepy with little girls.
Oh yeah, also mentioning how COVID is weird, low fatality rates, rushed vaccines

It's all good, better off without them if this caused them to turn lol

Yes. Some of whom were friends of 22 years. The ones who went nuts on me also had colored hair, were single mothers, were covered in tattoos, didn't graduate high school, had done drugs at some point, and loved to virtue signal and call people nazis. In other words the problem pretty much fixed itself.

No because none of the people I would consider friends have strong radical beliefs, to the point were they couldn’t tolerate a different view.

If by "friend" you mean people I haven't seen in person in years, only talked to through social media, then definitely. A good 5-10 last year. Most of them because they were paniccels about Covid, terrified to leave their homes while I expressed calm and how half the deaths were in people with one foot in the grave already. Others sperged out because I disagreed with them while they were showcasing they are emotional basketcases.

I'm pretty much a moderate, but lost two cousins who acted like *******s because I wouldn't side with them on BLM and White Supremacy. Have a friend who I argue with on a daily basis about White fragility and white guilt, which I belived the former is made up to be self esteem boosters for BLM loons and the latter being grossly over exaggerated. Nothing worse than a guilty white person. If you aren't a racists what do you have to be guilty of? Love me or hate me i'm not going to pander to you because of your skin color, the same way I'm don't expect special treatment. I like everyone the same unless you give me a reason.

I haven not. I suspect I only know one person that is so extreme with his political beliefs that he would befriend people for being conservative. As I've learned it is best to avoid talking politics with him.
