Great Lakes region- lots of fresh water, no hurricanes or earthquakes, rarely a tornado. Except the winter is so long and dark you may decide hurricanes don't sound so bad.

When I'm acclimated to the heat I can spend a moderate amount of time outdoors up to 95 without being too miserable. The dry air in the desert does make that sweat evaporate quickly so you feel cooler, but it also makes my eyes and sinuses miserably dry.

OTOH living in the northern US the air can be very dry in winter, indoors if not out- same problem with eyes/sinuses/skin.

The best my skin ever looked was a couple of weeks in England in summer- relatively cool, not dry, some sun. Kind of known for dreary weather there too though.

I pray my A/C never goes out in the summer.

Honestly Vegas is pretty livable the rest of the year but we get a solid 3-4 1/2 months of Hell on Earth every year.

AZ will have a water crisis way before this happens.

Like 4/5th of all water comes the Colorado river and underground supplies. Those underground aquifers takes thousands of years to fill up and in the last 50-60 years agricultural development has really put a strain on the supply. The Colorado river is in bad shape too. When they first decided to damn up and extend the river they did it during a period of record high precipitation levels.

They don't have to stop it, humans are intelligent enough to adapt to change. If you understand physics then you will know everything is in a constant state of change, the second law of thermodynamics. Change is not good or bad. Humans have adapted to every climate on Earth from desert extremes to artic to tropical and everything in-between.

50-70f east coast summer, sweating balls. Sticking to everything.

100f in AZ, not sweating. The heat and sun are healthy. Freezing, rainy, gloomy days are not.

I don't personally know a lot about it, but a local geologist told me there is still a LOT of water down there. Easily 50+ years worth even despite growth projections, as long as California isn't successful in bribing our politicians (which they've been actively trying to do).

I've lived all over the country and Arizona is by far my favorite state. If I had a choice between coastal San Diego, or some other overhyped area for the same money, I'd still pick Phoenix. I love the desert.

I hope people believe this article and stop moving there so I can afford to buy a nice house again. Prices have doubled in some parts of AZ in the last year.

I keep my house at 80 year round, I don't have a problem with the heat. It's -3F here now and it's like living in hell, at least my version of it. You could die in a short amount of time in those temperatures. The heat is fine if you're hydrated and not directly in the sun.
