First, on the topic, both men and women are required to shave/trim pubes and armpit hair. This is about cleanliness rather than sexual preference of men.

Second, a man can have up to four wives if he can take care of them equally. This is done so women in their society dont have to sloot for money. They had no other way to survive if they werent married or lost husbands. It is encouraged that the extra wives are widowed or sick. Prophet Muhammad was monogamous for most of his life and only remarried when his first wife died. Most women he married were widows, some old and with kids. He did it to provide for them.
