We were forced to pretend diversity was a good thing.

People should have stayed in their countries. There's a reason China is on the rise. 0 diversity wrecking their way of life over there. Look at Europe. Leading the charge in promoting diversity and it's in shambles.

There's tons of research that shows groups work better when homogenous. The more heterogeneity among a group, the more problems it faces, the less accomplished, and the more inferior quality of what is accomplished.

Heterogeneity always creates additional, unnecessary barriers to overcome. If you're putting together a team to work on a project/goal, the more homogenous you can make it the more fluid things will run. This is why politics is a sh*t show. There's way too much diversity in this country and everyone has their own vision of what's in their best interest. Of course that sh*t isn't going to align. So what happens is people don't get their way and it turns ugly.

Imagine how much easier it would be for this country to progress if we all shared the same vision and direction to get there. Instead we just have competing interests and things never go anywhere. You can't have it. Diversity has gotta go. Split back up and each group will prosper better than they would trying to stay as one.

What makes America different from the Old World?

The American story is a story of doers. People with the grit to take action and not just settle for whatever life situation they were born into. I believe that is why America has had such a longstanding history of innovation compared to other countries; though that has been changing as things like democratic elections and universal education have become widespread.

This is part of why I'm not bothered by an increased Hispanic population or an influx of Indian professionals. We want the go-getters. We want the people who are willing to pull up stakes and jump in to a foreign land for the opportunity to improve their lives and the lives of their children via hard work and investment.

Dreamers aren't enemies of mine.

My problem is with the members of the ownership class that leverage legislation to keep wages stagnant, labor powerless, and their own share of profits out-sized in relation to the value of investment. Companies that employ illegal labor so that they can operate with substandard working conditions. Companies that import captive foreign labor claiming that there isn't sufficient existing labor.

I'm not anti-capitalist. No problem with people who risk more, invest more, create more, reaping larger rewards. Strictly speaking of the moneyed interests that use their influence to corrupt legislation and rig the game.

OP: People smarter than me have pegged the origin of our present situation to the end of growth. Maybe I will get around to posting up an interview w/more details.

Things were lost before the 50's. As people have already mentioned, we did back the wrong side in WW2, but the decline and embrace of modernism started back in the 20's/30's.

It's called consumerism. Parents and kids didn't have TVs, cell phones, and computers where they could post on BB forums all day. So, there was more social interaction and time spent with family. Likewise, new houses were much smaller back then - under 1,000 sq ft as opposed to 2,350 sq ft today, requiring more interaction with the family as well because people didn't need their space to jack off to internet porn.

You could live pretty well in the 1950s, so long as you can do without air conditioning, internet, high def TVs, cell phones, computers, etc.
