How are you keeping pipes from freezing in an unoccupied rental house?

Temp is going to be below zero for a few days here. I've got unoccupied properties with the utilities on. How do you prepare for when it gets this cold?

Leave the heat on and sinks dripping? This is what I'm currently doing?

Turn off the water at the meter and leave the sinks open with the heat on?

Something else?

For how long will it be unoccupied? Might be worth doing a proper winterization.

3-5 weeks. I rent them out to refinery contractors. Most of them show up for unscheduled maintenance. That means they show up when something breaks down at a refinery.n3-5 weeks is also the typical rental period.

I got a lake house in NY I rent out to fisherman and when no one is there I have the thermostat set at like 55-58

Turn off water going into house from outside source.
Make sure no water comes out when you turn on faucets inside house.
Pour a cup of Ant-freeze in every sink/shower drain
Keep furnace set to 50 F.

I do this every week in my rental cabin in Big Bear

If you're really worried, could heat tape the lines, convert to pex, leave your heat on if its not wood heat, or turn the water off at your meter. Cheap RV/marine antifreeze in the drains would be good too.

It takes a solid week of -20 below to start freezing pipes. Don’t worry about a night or two. Mn boy here

Pool noodles, make a cut down one side of them, wrap some pipes with them. Just a hack I heard about, never tried it myself but thought... could help, maybe.

**** off water at the meter and drain down from the lowest point preferably on the other side of the meter. Or keep some faucets dripping either or will work.
