Proof that whiskey is absolutely disgusting if people think wild turkey actually tastes good. I tried wild turkey 101, it's bitter, awful going down and has a nasty after flavor that doesn't go away.

Thanks op ill buy it next.
I usually just grab Bulleit, got some knob creek 9 year for Christmas that was really good.
Right now i have jimbeam black, not a big fan for some reason.
Back to the turkey it is. Is turkey good for cocktails like old fashioned or manhattans? Or better on the rocks?

I know you’re all bourbon guys but famous grouse is probably the best cheap whisky IMO.

you know what? agreed.
at under 25 dollars your choices are pretty grisly at least in terms of what's widely available. Turkey 101 is rock solid. i really want to try the 101 rye but have not seen it for sale yet in my area.

I get fccked up quicker on Wild Turkey 101 than Don Q Rum 151 proof....
Don Q is a higher proof and yet it takes me a hell of a lot more shots of Don Q to feel anything, whereas with Wild Turkey I can hit about 4 shots and start to feel buzzed.

Trace is definitely not a 25 dollar option anymore. Around here it’s easily $10 more than 101.

A certain other rare animal themed bottle of theirs is still reliably $40 but I know it's just a matter of time.

Buffalo Trace is the GOAT sub $25 bourbon...if you can find it. Wild 101 is my second though, no doubt.
I got a hook up at the local store and also a friend who buys several whenever he can get his hands on them, so i always have a bottle available at my house. So fawking smooth and drinkable.

I just picked up a bottle of Maker's Mark second tier and it's pretty good as well. But ya, the American Honey is nice.

another good low key option if you like 101 is Russells Reserve 10 yr, $25/bottle here
Weller special reserve was another superb low key option until people realized it was poor mans pappy

With the opportunity cost of a compounding investment return, you are spending a massive amount of future value by being uppity about liquor. I'm uppity about a lot of things, and I will invest in a few more expensive bottles on occasion, but it's just not a great value prop to me and many others.
