I remember like 4 years ago I got snowed in at my dads cabin by myself. Up in the mountains In Pigeon Forge TN area and like 40 minutes away from anything, was without power for like 26 hours. Woke up one time and saw my breath like the ghost movies and thought I was going to die. Not fun times.

Read an article about Austin where the power company basically admitted that they screwed up the rotation and have no way to turn it back on until the grid is fixed. Wondering if that's why all the statements today were so mealy-mouthed, because they knew they fukked up.
Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

To recap today for me
-Power went out around 1:30 am (estimated guess)
-Came back in at 11:30 am
-Went back out at 3:30 pm
-Currently almost 8:30 pm

So 15 hours no power (and counting) for 4 hours of power?

Strong rotating of the power lol. Thanks Biden

All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Just LOL at not having any propane stored or propane heaters. It literally takes like $20 for a propane tank that can last hours on an indoor safe big buddy heater. Be prepared ya'll. Don't know how people expect the world to be perfect and working al the time.

Update

Power back on at 9:30 pm. We’ll see how long it lasts

Not going to bed until power gets cut. This sh*t is precious, not wasting my time with power asleep hahaha

Better be at least on for 2 hours. My laptop needs to recharge and that how long it says it will take

Few inches of snow and single digit temps, and you'd think it was the apocalypse for you southerners

This is what we deal with up north for several weeks/months each year lol

Can’t tell if it’s my buildings generator that’s providing power, or the city, but either way it turned back on at 7pm and been good since. Was dead from 8am-11am, and 3-7.

I expect more outages tomorrow.

Somebody really really really dropped the ball here. First world country/city crippled beyond belief. Roads are still full of snow, turning into ice. Electricity nowhere to be found. More snow on the way to double the current amount. Sub zero temperatures.

You deal with no power for 15+ hours a day for months every year?

No you don’t you *******. I’ve lived up north too. Feel free to turn your heat off and don’t run any lights or appliances with me tomorrow if you want to simulate this with me.

See how long you last before you say f*ck this.

I knew they wouldn’t be able to handle the roads. It’s just not worth the cost of the machinery for Texas to own that stuff

The power outages though holy f*ck I agree. Totally dropped the ball there.

Roads shutting down a week is not really a big deal. Not having power in freezing temps is another story

Sorry. This hotel was short staffed and prepping rooms as quick as they could. Saw one family w/a baby and a small toddler in the elevator; said their power had been out a long time too and it was about 50 in their house when they left.

From the link that was posted earlier (and other news now) it seems that not only was there a higher demand due to the low temps we also had a drop in supply (30%) from frozen wind turbines, maybe cold/wet coal.

We have relatives in San Antonio and Rockport who are also without power.

Texas power grid operator ERCOT, which represents 90% of the state's electric load, tweeted Tuesday morning that "generators to return, renewable output to increase = increased customer restoration."

Bloomberg published a headline that said the grid operator expects all power to be back on Tuesday evening.

However, Bloomberg's Javier Blas said the grid is "still short of at least 18.5 GW." He said that equates to outages for at least 3 million homes.

Update ( 0832 ET): The Southwest Power Pool (SSP), which manages the electric grid and wholesale power market for the central US, including Kansas, Oklahoma, portions of New Mexico, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Missouri, Minnesota, Iowa, Wyoming, and Nebraska, said Tuesday morning that blackouts would continue for a second day.

Four million Texans are without power Tuesday morning after a polar vortex split poured Arctic air into the region, collapsing the state's power grid, forcing grid operators to impose rolling blackouts because of higher power demand.

The PowerOutage.us website, which tracks power outages, said four million Texas customers were experiencing outages at 0630 ET Tuesday.

Power hasn't been touched here near Dallas... praying it stays on.

We have friends staying with us who haven't had power for 24 hours at their house just a few miles away.

I'm good, thanks. I'm thankful that I was able to get a hotel room and that my hunch that the power wouldn't be cut for the muni complex/PD seems to have paid off. Just saw on the weather it was 1 degree Fahrenheit by my house. I have my flaws, and my luck could be better, but I'm not one to just sit on my hands and hope someone else will fix things.
