What’s your go-to scotch?

Drinking this watered down crap rn. Usually go for laphroaig quarter cask but it’s nearly 100/bottle here in cucknada. Lmao at lcbo pricing. Bourbon suggestions also welcome.

Go to Irish: Redbreast 12

Go-to bottle was Glenlivet 12 for a long time, was pretty cheap and easy to find.

Don't drink scotch much these days but GlenDronach 12yr would be my go-to.

I don't drink it often enough and even then only about a drink in a glencairn class but my collection that I enjoy is:

Bunnahabhain 18
Glenfiddich 18
Aberlour A'bunadh (you better cut this with some water)
Old Pultney
Highland Park 18
Old Pultney 17
Lagavulin 16
Glenmorangie Signet
Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban
Glenmorangie Lasanta
Ardbeg Uigeadail
Balvenie Doublewood
Highland Park 18
Glenmorangie Spios (my ex bought me that for Christmas. Had never heard of it otherwise)

I like the Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban and Bunnahabhain 18 as a regular why not kind of scotch. The peaty ones listed are obviously for the cold and winter months. Highland Park and Old Pultney 17 are too costly to drink regularly. The Signet is so good to me and the most expensive by far that I've only had 1 drink of it and decided my next would be to celebrate getting engaged or birth of a kid or something.

Since you like Laphroaig i'll share some of my decently-priced Islay style preferences. ($USD, no poverty)

Caol Ila 12 -> $65-85

Ardbeg Uigeadail -> $85-100

Ardbeg Corryvreckan -> $85-100

These are all more expensive than quarter cask so it might be outrageous around where you're at. But if you see them for decent price I do recommend.

Ardbeg 10 and Laphroaig 10 are not very good, IMO. They are fine, but not great. Rather spend $20 - 30 more for something that tastes 5x as good.

A distillery you might want to try is Jura. Not as expensive as Laphroaig or Ardbeg. It's a highland scotch, which I quite like if I'm not having an Islay. Talisker is a pretty good brand as well.

Cheers.

Glenlivet for scotch.

Blanton's for bourbon.

But the cheap stuff still will get you by.

If you had to pick one of the glenmorangies which would you pick?

The ardbegs you listed are like 200+ a bottle here. Feelsbadman.

Every time I wanted to have a scotch for the hell of it I'd say Quinta Ruban. Special occasion would be the Signet
