I was in PWM at ML/UBS/MS.. So the people you would sell MFs to. It was good but I realized the only reason I did it was to have a path to freedom (build a book and lots of $ less hrs) and I did ok- but realized there’s prob better ways to freedom

Lmk how you like it though brah. I know you had similar aspirations so def wanna hear if your path provides what you’re looking for, or if you’re still looking for outside things

Yeah exactly my clients are private wealth managers

I’ve been at it for over 3 years now but just on the inside desk - supporting the external guy

This is a hybrid role for now cause of covid but once things open up again I’ll be doing the meetings, taking guys out for golf, lunches etc

Building your own book of business is Fuken tough man - they have rookie programs here and basically no one makes it like 98 percent fail

But fund sales is pretty sweet dude, good hours, a lot of money and all you do is wine and dine clients

Wholesalers at my old firm averaged like 300-400k (legit since sales numbers and commission structures are public company wide for each wholesaler) and top 10 percent were literally making over a million per year - all to play some golf, do a few meetings everyday, go for lunches, dinners, sports games etc

And the rookie program is fukkin rough. You have to have a real strategy, and you need to find support. Over my 2.5 years there I was on 2 different teams, and they helped give me some assets. In those 2.5 years though, I saw so much turnover. There wasn’t a soul who started with me by the time I left. Crazy times haha.

But yeah man congrats on going from internal to o hybrid. Like you said, that’s where the bank is and they have chill lives, even in that Reddit thread.

Do you still want to pursue entrepreneurship or something outside of your career tho? I think it was you that was all about that at one point

Yeah I definitely do want to pursue something outside of my career, I think it’s the only way to make real money ...but who knows how that will play out, gotta stay grounded and take it day by day

i dont know, i am a tradie. the officecels at my work are still there. i just assumed most ppl already have home computers since like the early 00's man.

No one around here goes into the office anymore - it’s 100 percent work from home srs

Yeah I have a personal computer but it doesn’t have any of the shared folders, programs, files etc for job

I think some people get remote desktops installed on their pcs

I dunno - these guys just couriered me all this chit and some IT guy accessed the computer remotely this morning and set it all up

seems cool but do they have total access to everything you do on that computer? like if you opened your bank account or looked at some pr0n? im pretty far behind on tech but give me some tools and ill build you something, nom sayin?

Yeah I think so but they aren’t monitoring that stuff

I think they’d only check your computer for a specific reason

Regardless I literally don’t use my work computer ever for anything besides work

Mirin man. I just started a new job too. The company I went to last year failed due to covid impacts. I'm back in healthcare as cfo of a smaller company. The senior team is all Jewish except me, I got the holiday schedule yesterday. I get 19 days of holiday plus my 3 weeks of PTO. My mind is obliterated.

PTO = paid time off, it's the same as vacation, companies moved to it to merge sick time and vacation and generally time off got reduced.

I prefer small companies for what I do because you have a lot of latitude in the way you approach your work. And generally you can see the impact of your work more directly. I worked for a fortune 100 company in my early 30's (they bought the company I worked for, I helped sell the company to them), and it was the worst experience of my career being told how to do my job their way wasn't for me, some people love it though, it gives them something to fit into.

Anyway, it will probably be a different experience for you, revenue generators are generally treated well wherever I've been large or small.

Yeah they’ve basically told me I have full autonomy and can do the job as I see fit, so defn looking forward to that aspect of it. Also kinda cool to have direct communication with senior leadership and stuff too. I hated the defined roles, red tape, defined processes for larger companies. Like send an email to person x to email person y... like why not just email person y directly lmao ...I have way more responsibility here too which I’m looking forward to, as you said can see the impact of your work more directly

Well the premier of my province just ordered a stay at home order until March 8th so that’s sweet lol

I prefer a view of the trees and mountains from my couch but I know that it's harder to bring women (and I won't say the type of women in your other thread) back to places like that.
