It does kind of piss me off that we get screwed on the purchaser level because healthcare and pharma companies know they can do it.

Yep. This is another reason why some think Medicare for All might not wind up being so bad. And there may be savings from overall health to people that will help our economy and even offset the slight increase in spending it would be over the current status quo.

What do you think would happen if the US pulled all of it's military assets back and said "Europe you're on your own in 5 years, we will not defend you if you are attacked."
Do you think your countries would not change their spending habits and continue on?
Do you think Russia/China would not try to take advantage of this situation and claim land?
Do you think your current military is good enough to defend yourself if Russia decided to invade EU countries?
How much money do you think it would take to build your armies up to have a fighting chance in those 5 years?
Where would this money be pulled from?

Nobody gets proper healthcare? I get a full workup from some of the most well-trained doctors in the world in 30 minutes for chump change.
America is not a place to live if you are poor or lower class, it's excellent for people that can afford it. No idea why Eurocels delude themselves that their "free" system is far superior because the cost comes out of their paycheck automatically instead of being paid when a service is rendered. Oh wow, I use the healthcare system and then pay for it, what a crazy concept, so backwards. Brb receiving subpar treatment and can't choose to opt out of the system even if I'm perfectly healthy. There is also no medical service I would travel elsewhere to get---if I have a major surgery or something I'm going to an American facility. But I guess Eurosmugs need something to cope with while they sit on their dreary islands locked inside their 500 square foot houses.

Both the USA and UK have private healthcare systems, thats always an option for those able to pay
Im talking purely government expenditure here. Your gov spends more than ours, how can you justify that?

Are you seriously comparing the Argentina military to the Russian one? That war was over as soon as the British ships arrived, there was no need for anyone else to get involved and you had a massive advantage over them. They were cheering when they "invaded" a bunch of farmers but once the British navy showed up and fought back there was only 1 outcome.
I'll repeat myself 1 more time and that's all.
Yes, the US acts in it's own interests.
Yes, the US benefits greatly by having bases all over the world and keeping as much peace as possible.
Yes, the US does not do this out of the goodness of their hearts and does this all for very very selfish reasons.
BUT, a by-product of this is that European countries considered allies, Canada, South Korea, Israel, Japan, Australia etc. do not have to spend anywhere near as much money on their own militaries because they have the support of the US military.
And it's not like they don't need militaries. Russia, China, Iran, many middle eastern countries, many African countries are still hostile and the only reason they are not aggressively taking land is because of the US military.
Do you think South Korea could take on North Korea and China on it's own? Do you think Japan could? No, they can't. They have not been invaded simply because of the US.
And they are therefore able to spend money that would have gone to the military on other things.
Even with the strong US military Russia and China have taken land in the Ukraine and South China Sea so it's not like they wouldn't invade your countries if they had the chance. Or at least parts of Europe and Asia etc.
So by not having to build tanks, airplanes, aircraft carriers, drones etc etc to a point where you have a fighting chance against these hostile nations you save a lot of money. This money goes into your free healthcare and other socialist policies.
You would not have free healthcare or free uni or cheap insurance or cheap transportation if, like the US, you had no one to subsidize your military.
If the US wanted to implement policies like free healthcare or cheaper healthcare the money would have to come from somewhere. Let's say Canada balls the f out and creates the biggest military in the world that's twice the size of the US (somehow) then the US could therefore cut back massively on their military spending then they could easily afford free healthcare. See how that works?
I don't know how to make it any more clear.
