Think of it, a badass black MMA fighter turned Seattle crime fighter who eventually fell from grace due to divorce, addiction, injury and vilification. The story could be an interesting mix between John Wick, Kick-Ass, The Dark Knight and Logan. Michael B. Jordan could pull him off I think...

Feel bad for Cavill, could have been a really good Superman but Superman has been rebooted too many times and often chit scripts.

Man of Steel was decent, but Man of Steel 2 basically killed the franchise by crossing over into ridiculous territory.

Also, per the DCEU, Black Superman is know as Calvin Ellis, who's Superman in the multiverse -- so it's not just a PC grab.

I'm not seeing anything saying he will replace Henry Cavill. In fact, i thought he just recently renewed his contract with WB to play superman.. Its sounds more like its going to be an offshoot of the mainline DC movies like the Joker movie. If thats the case, im fine with that.

Who gives a chit about this anyway? If they want to make a good comic movie with a black protagonist then just take the budget for this and dump it into the new Spawn movie. Jaime Fox will do a good job.

Listen. JJ Abrams is producing. They are Rebooting superman AGAIN. The guy writing it couldn't even make Black Panther in space an interesting story, his comics kind of suck balls.

Odds of this movie being any good regardless of who they cast is low AF.

That being said, if the movie could be good? I have zero fuking problem with someone like Michael B Jordan being Superman. And I'd honestly PREFER it be the actual character Kal El. A Black kid growing up in rural Kansas with white parents in a mostly white area could work really well thematically. He could feel Alien well before he even discovers he is indeed an alien.

I could dig it.

Ded srs. That’s exactly why I say his story would be an interesting one to tell. It would be a dark, realistic tale of a vigilante’s fall from grace and into the depths of deep personal issues. It has all the makings of a good action/drama/antihero story.
