@ 2:52

Feels that rate increases are likely in the near future. If they move in a meaningful way, it's probably safe to say we can expect a decent contraction in chunks of the market -- I've never heard the term "valuation reset"

Why would prices rocket because shares trade hands at a specific contracted price?

I like fisker because they’ve been around a while and I’ve seen their cars in person like 15 years ago and thought it was pretty cool, not sure if it was even full electric or what but it was real unlike chit companies like NKLA... wish I bought more than one share since it’s more than doubled.

Secular shift from certain growth stocks into value stocks.

Dump SPY for RSP if you want better returns for the next 5 years.

A good way to trade is to not think about it as money, but numbers. It helps to not build an attachment to the position. If you treat your trades as simply numbers and that’s the game, you’ll be better off.

Commodities are poised to be the biggest equities winners for the next 5 years and its grossly underweighted in most portfolios.

Tech isn’t gonna die, but funds like ARKK and Tesla are gonna get crushed. It’s just a matter of time and how the fed intervenes.

Yeah these are just numbers on a screen, and tying this stuff to events with a lot of underlying emotion (buying a big house, early retirement, lambo) is a particularly bad idea IMHO

Especially when you’re awared of the hedonic treadmill and that big $$$ windfalls won’t materially change your long-term happiness anyways, emotional attachment becomes even less consequential

Here’s a way to decide if you should double down or cut your losses.

Pretend you have no position in asset. Would you buy it right now at these levels? If you’re answer is no, they why aren’t you cut your losses? You need a 100% increase in an asset after it fall 50% just to break even. If yes, you should double down and reduce your cost basis.

Good point. I wonder how many people ITT are playing with "fun" money compared to livelihood money. I can probably take a stab at a guess based on the reaction to red days I guess.

This. There’s going to be a commodities boom due to coming deep freezes and supply chain disruptions. Just yesterday at Whole Foods the manager was talking to these customers saying he had no idea when their product is coming, lots of supplier issues. This is due to the Covid restrictions.

This reminds me of a psychological lesson I learned in gaming, particularly in Dota2 which is the idea of compartmentalizations helping to isolate the “noise” from your focus.

To treat everything as it’s own “mini-game”

If you run around the map thinking of too many things and objectives it clouds your judgement and takes you out of the moment.

So I found it helps to think of everything as its own mini game. You don’t have to think of the whole world all the time, you just think ok I’m gonna go clear the jungle of wards next - and then you just focus on that and make a small game out of it. Or you have to go farm an unsafe area without dying, so you create a mini game out of that. As opposed of thinking of too much to the point it gets in the way of your ability to execute soundly.

I don’t know if it’s necessary for stocks but psychologically it is potentially an asset. You are like a financial athlete I always say you have to be sound in mind and body.

You gotta be a gamer to game these things. Sometimes gaming/athlete psychology really works

I'm thinking we get a singleton event where things tank in the first week or two of March, that should frighten off a lot of newbies who might think it's the end of the world and more veteran investors thinking it's the beginning of a bear market. Might be blamed on rising interest rates which they will foolishly associate will lead to a bear market. I'm gonna be buying a chit ton of far out calls. Have a $46k fidelity account that I nearly doubled during the March 2020 crash. Will do the same this time around too. My ToS trading account will be locked and loaded with mad gains off the puts and will put the cash towards Sept. 2021 and Jan 2022 SPY, DIA, QQQ calls. I won't be making the same mistakes I made last year. This time I'll buy them and not close them out unless some major lows get taken out.
There's a coming slingshot move up as people begin moving out of public assets and into private. Targeting DJIA 40,000 by March 2022.

In a Private Wave, stock markets outperform bond markets. Here, people lose their faith in government rapidly. By the half-way mark in a Private Wave, the government becomes aggressive because it sees it is losing control of society. This is why governments will become much more aggressive during the last part of this wave into 2032.

The popular slogan during the public wave of the 20th century was that "Only Gentlemen Buy Bonds." Well, it'll be the opposite now.

Here's what that's saying in chart terms
