I think I have mice in the attic. Whats the best way to get rid of them? (srs)

Tried going to sleep and I hear scratching almost like gnawing in the ceiling.

The thought of those nasty ****ers disgust me, how do I kill those things asap?

don't want to wait, i think imma just stay up till home depot opens and get some sticky traps and a step ladder n throw them up there in the attic.

glue traps are very effective but might be considered more inhumane than instant death traps, normally the mouse will tire itself to death trying to get out of a glue trap but if you are unlucky and catch one fresh then its not a pretty site - cue a plastic bag wrapped air tight and disposed of in the garbage, i hate it but unfortunately we cannot cohabit with pests,

my plan is to get a step stool, open that hatch and throw some traps in and close it. im not trynna explore the attic and breathe in possible rat feces.

They like to live in lofts because they are warm and safe and have lots of material for bedding. Could also be squirrels

OP make sure all your food is secured in metal or glass. Be aware that those fckers can burn your house down by chewing a cable and starting a fire.

The spring loaded traps work well with Nutella, but you will have to go up to set them. Also you can't just leave whatever trap up there because it will smell like a dead animal

my place is clean and there is nothing sitting out. i think it is my neighbor (townhouse) she told me killed 2 rats already by her chimney area and this was a few months ago.

pretty irritated now i think about it. or its from the people that lived her before and i just never noticed the scratching in the ceiling.

yeh ill set them up but just gonna place em close to the hatch, dont wanna venture in the attic reall.

and yeh imma check up on the trap and dispose of the carcass for sure. idk aobut cleaning up the **** though might just fking call a professional if its bad

I used a bunch of poison baits that look like dog chew treats, kind of cylindrical/star shaped things. Lots of clawing and scratching for a couple of days followed by dead silence, pun intended.

I tried the mechanical traps first because insta-kill is better than poison in my mind but it just didn't murder enough of the furry little bastards.

i dont wanna climb around in the attic and search for the carcasses if i poison em.

i wanna know they dead and easily dispose of em. really dont wanna climb around in the attic. never been up there since movin in so who knows wats up there

fck glue traps brah

mice are cute af, we had one and the little chit was smart nothing worked but the little fcker loved chocolate. That's how we even discovered we had the chit if a piece of chocolate was in a drawer the little fcker would go nibble on it. Slapped a hershey kiss on a glue trap and within a couple hrs i heard it. The mouse was trying to crawl back into the cabinet and its cute little feet were just completely stuck on the glue

took her outside and old yeller'd her and decided im never buying a glue trap again :'(

We had some success calling orkin and using mouse bait traps...also you should seal all your food containers in plastic cases in your pantry. After they had no easy access to food, they left our house.

yea it's pretty fuked up and inhumane tbh

it's a lot better to just eliminate their easy access to food. They will usually take the hint and look elsewhere.

glue traps are torture, just use a dozen snap traps that (most of the time) kill them pretty quickly. Bait with peanut butter


They get stuck and die from exhaustion / stress after struggling for 30+ hours

It's natural to feel bad for them, but at the end of the day, they are mice and we are humans. If they don't leave after you've safeguarded your food (and for some mice and rats, NOTHING will keep your food safe), killing them is the only option. Rats can chew through everything. And if you have PEX piping, rats and mice have been known to chew on that from time to time and cause leaks. It just isn't a good thing. I view it as protecting myself from disease and undue hardship. Would I kill mice outside? No. Would I kill a mouse in my house that wouldn't leave even after I took preventive measures by sequestering food? Absolutely.

I was mirin the ability of mice to unwrap chocolates and chit. They are smart as hell.

I have no food out and no signs of mice in the house.

I think they are from my neighbor(townhouse) because she told me she actually killed 2 big ass rats around December time. told me she might get an exterminator, haven't heard an update.

so im thinking the 2 attics are connected and came from her side.

regardless im gonna buy those snap traps, but not sure if they can kill a giant rat.
