Everything people know is wrong

Everything has always been wrong during the times it was accepted as truth.

Everything people knew in 1990 was completely wrong in 2005

Everything people knew in 1930 was completely wrong in 1945

Take any time in history and the accepted reality was always wrong.

What are some things people are completely wrong about today that if you knew will make you a wealthy person in 15 years?

What are the world changing things that will happen within the next 15 years?

Things that are verifiable and true to anyone are mostly science or math based. Pretty much everything written or known about human history that isn't backed up with archeology is biased or flat out wrong.

What are some examples of what we were wrong about 15 years ago? I can’t think of anything.

incomplete understanding of something doesn't mean everything known previous to a discover is wrong.

brb - newton and Einstein were wrong because they didn't produce a unified field theory.

Obviously, but we’ve still been wrong about plenty of things and it’s safe to say we are wrong about a lot of stuff today. The other side of your coin is that you can’t get one thing right and ignore all the other flaws in understanding. You can’t cut out part of someone’s brain and then when it doesn’t fix a mental illness go “well, I know it has something to do with the brain so technically I’m still right”:

I agree that a lot of things that are common knowledge are wrong, even if the science and evidence is currently pointing in the right direction. Particularly diet, medicine, mental health, and the applications of technology to include the dangers of social media. The average person in 2021 is still poor, uneducated, and completely uninterested in anything that doesn't provide instant gratification.

Outside of working a 6 figure job, owning 2 small businesses, and investing in index funds here are the individual things I'm keeping an eye on.

1.) CRISPR tech (gene editing)
2.) Infrastructure as Code (Automating cloud computing services)
3.) Blockchain, the tech is important more for auditing than currency
4.) Psilocybin and ******** supported counseling for mental health
5.) Self driving semi's (ground transport is one of the largest industries in America)

You can buy stocks in all of these things today. CRSP, AMZN, ETHE (or ETH to hold direct), CMPS, TSLA

no, but you can cut out part of a brain to test a hypothesis. when it doesn't work, its checked off as a dead end - that's how science works. failures are important too and all part of the process to greater understanding. to categorically state "everything we knew 30 years ago is wrong" is just asinine.

Still a good buy now at $1,500!

My worst: I bought $3,000 worth of Shopify at $100/share based on a Motley Fool Stock Advisor buy alert. About the time it had doubled in value, I had a $6,000 tax bill so sold it to pay some taxes.

2 years later its now trading at $1,400/share. Yep I'd have made $40,000 on it in 2 years.

I feel like we’re getting into semantics, yes obviously Opie worded it poorly and no...not everything we knew 30 years ago was wrong. It’s not like we’re going to find out that the Earth doesn’t revolve around the sun.

I did word it poorly

But yes it does seem like a coincidence that mathematics, something abstract that was invented and only exists inside the human mind happens to be so perfect in describing and predicting the universe and natural world that is outside the human mind and totally separate / not reliant from human experience..

I don't understand. Do you mean if aliens or other non-human minds observed our math and sciences they would appear biased?

Despite believing in the tech, I really can't wrap my head around buying it at $1,500. I know the whole "second best time buy is now" mantra, but going from buying at $4.00 to $1500.00 is wild to me.

This is actually pretty true.

Thats why the greatest sign of intelligence is the ability to change.

We as humans are wrong about almost everything, all the time. If you cant change or be able to use Bayesian thinking, you will be a ignorant person stuck in your ways.

Similar to religion.
People believe something growing up and wont change their belief as new information comes in. Its ignorant and due to ego.

The smartest people on the planet know that even the most brilliant minds are wrong (smartest people in a thousand years ago were almost all wrong about everything and as time we on, and discovered new things and as we understood the earth and sciences better, we corrected some of those mistakes and incorrect assumptions about our universe) hence we need to be able to change according to evidence and not according to what we cling on to.
Its hard to admit that we are wrong as humans because of pride and ego.

Most people thought the world was in the center of the universe at one time and was widely accepted and if you thought differently, you were a witch or a heretic and burned.

"Measure of intelligence is the ability to change" - Einstein

"Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change" - Hawkings

"Intelligence is often defined as the ability to learn and a sign of learning is changing your views over time" - Adam Grant

How can you learn if you're phacking correct all the time.

Anatomy/physiology is partially irrelevant.

Even facts like math and science is being challenged. In the clown world, nothing is off the table.
