Man I kinda hope not here in Alberta, prices have dropped every year since I bought. This year's property tax assessment was actually the first in five years that wasn't a huge decrease, went up a whole +$500

Ontario and BC though, saw headlines the other day that the average house in the Toronto area just hit $1million

They were raising rates and that’s what caused markets to sell 20%, they recovered because they lowered rates. Stock market( growth) survives on cheap debt

Sweet jesus

Cheap debt is right, they were practically giving money away for a long time and assets are blowing up all over the place as a result. I think even the used watch market is going ham, since the top end brands (especially Rolex) are often treated as stores of value. Bet you artwork etc is blowing up too, just imagine how much cheap debt the 0.1% were probably able to tap into

Same thing here in St. Louis. It’s because there’s no supply. I’ve been telling ya, we’re entering an inflationary period driven not by rising demand, but by diminishing supply. Covid19 lockdowns absolutely destroyed supply chains worldwide.

That's literally every home being sold here in the bay area....ton of foreigners pouring in 3 generations deep buying up homes in the burbs....it's ridiculous buying a house in the bay...sellers raking it in big time

Edit: glad I got out of tsla when I did..had plenty of time to get out over 800 but took my exit at 730...looks like it's heading towards the 500s

This is not supply issue for Canada atm afaik but rather these low rates.

Canada has been having issues for while especially British Columbia area going back 10 years now where foreigners (Asian mostly) come in buy property and just sit on it (leave it empty) it was always know they were just laundering money away from CCP.

BC had to come up with foreigner 20 % tax to try and help

This has now escalated to Ontario (around TO) area.

Damn . . . I thought Colorado real estate was potato. Canada, not even once.

Zillow shows $646k for ours now. Paid $359k in 2006 (~3,000 sq. ft). Place across the street was a flip last year and went for $600k with an unfinished basement.

My ex was from China, her parents both maxed out the number of houses they were legally allowed to own as foreign buyers and just started putting houses in her name to circumvent the system after they maxed out.

Been to Charlotte north carolina once for work.
Offered me my old job at Charlotte.

Def gonna do it. The housing is amazing.
The downtown is nice. All the neighborhoods surrounded by trees. Creeks everywhere.

Phuckers are gaming the system hard. Canadian government is doing nothing but pricing us out forever.

They are doing the same to the condo market.

As soon new condo goes up 80% are already sold to Asian international students.

this
the housing market is the only thing keeping the economy ponzi going, the only thing canada can keep doing is bring in 400 000 -500 000 immigrants each year to keep the country afloat, its absolutely pathetic.

there is nothing worth buying for sale here, I've seen price hikes on listings on the coast as well (Oregon coast is nice but not very nice year round for perm residence).

Canada is a big place and really only the Toronto and Vancouver areas are totally insane. There are some other pockets, like Fort Mac (especially when oil is booming) and I think the East coast has some crazy real estate prices as well, but it's not completely out of whack otherwise

$1.5million in the capital of Alberta feels like it gets you a reasonable property for the money

$1.5m here in Florida literally gets you one of those 7000 square foot mansion that you think of when you think of the world 'affluent'. With the massive driveway, HBB angel water fountain and basically a second house for a garage.
