I like the opening to Batman Begins.

The one with The Joker, Batman Begins right?

I wish people would stop salivating over Quentin Tarantinos' over indulgence of bloated dialogue that goes nowhere. It's one of the reasons why I find some of his films to be annoying when they could be great. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood was one of his only films that went for a straight forward dialogue and I loved it.

While that is true in many instances (including in that movie), it isn't true of that scene. It's brilliant because of the way he builds tension, the way the entire atmosphere flips about halfway through when LePadite realizes that Hans knows, the way the music builds and then climaxes when the Nazis start shooting, and the dialogue as well. You sir are a peasant if you think otherwise.

So we need 10 minutes to get there? If that's the case, that's a flaw in Tarantino's execution. If you like bloated dialogue, fantastic. But spare me the pretentiousness.

Nah, the Christopher Walken/Dennis Hopper scene has amazing dialogue and tension. The scene in IB is just annoying. I can watch that scene in True Romance a dozen times and it doesn't get old. That scene in IB could be cut or shortened and I wouldn't give a ****. That scene isn't Hans showing how cerebral he is in his job, it's just him fukking around and wasting time when he doesn't have to in terms of finding his targets.

This opening scene sets up the character of Hans Landa perfectly and Shosana and her grudge that comes back later in the movie.

Always loved this opening. Simple, dramatic, but doesn’t show too much. Jurassic Park is a perfect movie.

Saving private Ryan opening is great but that movie blew its load in the opening scene, the rest of the movie can’t compare to what you already saw. Would have been more effective in the middle of the movie after some build up.

That's great. But the execution to that plot point was boring and tedious to me.

They could have gotten there easier and Hans going to the house and basically telling the French guy.

"Tell me where the Jews are. If you tell me the truth, I'll leave you and your daughters unharmed. And I also promise you the Jews that you're hiding last moments on Earth will be quick and painless. But if you lie to me, and my men and I find them after turning this place upside down, yours and your daughters' last moments on this Earth won't be."

There you go. It gets to the point and it shows how ruthless Hans is.
