Is MBA degrees an example of capitalism of cronyism?

-- Most employers don't sponsor

-- It is a pay-to-win access

-- It gives you opportunities that others won't have

-- Since it is the network from the school and not management science bull**** itself, it is a club for better opportunities

No reason why this should exist. We don't need tax the rich and socialism but we can't remove retarded mechanisms like that.

rightwing until financially secure

slootist until you get married

MBAs are so useless I think it's more an example of stupidity and getting cucked. Only reason to get an MBA is to network - to that extent, OP is correct

I got accepted to an MBA program this year but ended up deciding not to go. Rather start and run my own business than pay $85,000 to re-learn some stuff from my undergrad.

It can be both of those things at the same time. All Capitalism is, is the free movement of capital. Paying for an expensive degree for the opportunity for high status/prestige jobs doesn't go counter to that. That being said, I'm still contemplating getting an MBA.

Just like big tech cancelling things and people say it's crony or "not real" capitalism. That IS capitalism. I wish right wingers would understand that.

this is true too. But sometimes I do see no name mba's as f500 execs. But I would never get one unless it was top 15 or top 20.

Yes of course. The even bigger scam are the ivy league offering nonsense continuing education or professional classes or whatever they call them. They let everyone in.

Basically, pay us $50k and you can put HAAAAVARD on your resume and maybe fool the HR drone lol.

yeah giant monopolies controlling society and affecting people's rights is capitalism and freedom because it isnt the government doing it, its a private business.

When the google police kick in your door without a warrant for suspicion of using their service with an ad blocker its not the government violating your Natural rights protected under the 4th amendment its a private company so its okay.

When the amazon drone uses lasers to hear your voice inside your home bouncing off the windows its not the government invading your privacy its a private company so its okay.

LOL also to add to that, wouldn't the government be privy to the information private companies are gathering?

Even if they didn't have access by default all it would take is a warrant and they have all that information at their fingertips.

Some of these comments calling MBA's useless are not very well informed. Obviously an MBA is not rocket science and ranking matters a ton, but they are "cool kid clubs" that can unlock very prestigious, high paying, and high pay growth companies and fields... mainly consulting, Investment banking, and tech.

Click on some schools and look at BASE salaries. Not including bonuses, stock, etc. It's a lot more than about 90% of americans will ever make per year, even in their peak earning years.

All MBA people I know are in tons of debt. All the money moggers I know at my age were average college kids with good personalities, or kids that didn't go to college. Srs. Or get in the family business.

For most people an MBA is useless and an accrual of debt. An undergrad at this point is just to make you a debt slave.

I concur. It's a prestige degree. So is Law. Every few rankings, the lucrative and high paying jobs decreases more and more. Edited my last post. I meant to post the overall rankings, not Columbia specifically.

Like who? Bill Gates? Steve Jobs? Mark Zuckerberg?

I know 0 6 figure MBA bros. I have one buddy that got his masters in mathmatics and he makes 140k a year. Has 94k in debt from student loans and a car loan and lives in an absurd COL area. I know another buddy that got his PhD in Physics. All to go work a 120k job in downtown Portland while being in massive student loan debt.

Anyone else I know that has "advanced" degrees make the same amount as anybody else I know without. Heck my buddy that owns his own Landscaping company clears 100k for himself after all expenses, then sold it last year, and now makes 90k a year working as the head of the deparment of grounds for a major high school near me in an area of lower COL.

LOL if you fall for the MBA hype in 2021. It is a debt pool for the retarded wagecels.

Everything you listed is anecdotal.

https://dqydj.com/income-by-education/

High School Diploma Median Income: 33,000
Bachelors Degree Median Income: 60,000
Masters Degree Median Income: 77,220
Professional School Degree Median Income: 121,914
Doctorate Degree Median Income: 110,000

There is similar increases for the 1 percenters and average incomes of each group as well. A typical 1%er with only a high school diploma makes 182,000. Bachelors Degree 415,000

Please keep in mind that does not mean someone with no college education can't make 400,000. But data like this is much more useful than the anecdotes you listed.
But you are correct about debt being a factor that should be taken into account. Typically there is something called "return on investment" for pursuing higher education, ie, it pays for itself.

You kids really think MBAs don’t matter? How many director+ jobs do you think are out there? Unless you’re internal or know someone, no MBA means no interview in the business world. And while obviously more prestigious schools mean more opportunities but even a state school with a good resume will get you an interview for most jobs.

And whoever said that they only knew 1 advanced degree dude making six figures must not know many people. Here in Maryland, an MBA +10 years of increasing responsibility gets you minimum of $100k in the corporate world. Hell I just had a dude with no MBA and only 6 years of experience list his salary demand at $105k. Corporate finance. Not an engineer or computer whatever.
