I live in San Diego. You didn't give enough info to accurately answer that. It really depends on your living situation. If you're in an in apartment in PB with a roommate, you can be at $50,000 or less and enjoy a regular party lifestyle. If you want a one bedroom suite in La Jolla, you're gonna need to make $150,000.

Depends on what you mean by comfortable. I'd say 100k if you're single. Probably 200k+ if you have kids.
Home county? That's pretty huge. That spreads all the way down to the border and all the way up to Fallbrook.

Seeing as how my state of Hawaii has the highest COL in the entire US.

And $50-60k is enough to live comfortably without spending like a moron.

$50k should be enough to not be in poverty.

Would anyone consider roommates to be anything but poverty?

I'm assuming roommates = poverty status
Old car requiring expensive repairs = poverty status

I have friends who live in La Jolla with roommates who do well. It's an easy way to save $1,500 (give or take) per month. That's nothing to sneeze at even if you're not poverty.

I've been to San Diego four times...Gaslight District twice, Pacific Beach/Mission Beach once. Everyone living in San Diego is not earning $100K.

Would you want to depend on roommates to not get evicted?

I'm assuming you can survive on your own or with a husband / wife.

OK fine, I mean the ideal american dream with no roommates unless they are your wife and kids / other family.

Technically, your wife could make that working minimum wage in california at $15 per hour, so I'll consider it that way instead of roommates.

Exactly. Dual income even if one person is making minimum wage is a complete game changer.

Anyone saying $120k+ is very out of touch with the common man.

This is the misc, though.
