it is yeah
next step is to lead my own crew, then move into a construction manager role when my body can't take it any more

but i'd like to keep climbing for as long as I can. all the retired guys say how much they miss climbing.

it took a year or two to fully trust the equipment

100%, just knowing that if you fk up it's all over gets the blood going by itself.

Then, the adrenaline through the roof when you're suspended in the air and seeing your feet dangle or when you have to make sure, in my case, that the large piece of the trunk/branch I just sawed off goes down as planned and doesn't knock me out by a ricochet.

I think it's a lot safer than your job still, and I get goose bumps just from your pics, but I'd love to climb at least once to those heights.

Too risky,250lb up in the air relying on single rope ,also wind is probably rekts your face all the time, ty Jeff
Have you considered to run your own llc ?seems like lucrative field with all 5g 6g and ongoing maintenance plus impossibility to robotize job

that rope is good for lots lol
also have a backup lanyard attached to a lower section with a shock pack that will stop me from falling too far

I haven't thought about running my own company, they are making it so only the big companies get the contracts in canada. mom and pop shops ruin the industry under bidding and sacrificing safety for profit.

One day i'll look into being a construction manager in the field

Good to hear man. It is a very rewarding job, beats sitting in front of a computer. Im about 11 years in and still love it. Winter is chit though.

I removed a dish from the CN tower antenna at 1400' and that was the only time I was really uncomfortable to the point that I wouldn't want to do that every day

you work 70 - 90 hour weeks all year round or do you get big time off? hows your physical health holding up doing this all day?

physical health is great tbh, my diet could be better though -- I eat out a lot being on the road so much

I usually work 3 - 5 weeks straight and take a week or two off then get back to it. christmas time we always get 2 weeks off as well (unless we want to work)

No accidents for me yet but they happen pretty often — usually fatal

I’ve had a bill pin dropped on me from 70’ up but nothing too crazy

It landed on my back with the dull side, bruised and scabbed over but didn’t penetrate the skin. Was weird and I still have a mark from it 2 years later
