So I didn't get fired for looking at porn

Summary of HR meeting they had a print out with a few search terms I'd used and asked me why this was showing in my Google search history on my work Google login.
I acted confused and asked if they could give me more details and when these searches were made, they said they couldn't, I also asked if they were made on the work computer or my own personal one, they said they couldn't.
I said I didn't know anything about it.
They said does anyone else have access to my personal laptop and I said I don't leave it lying around but I do live in a house share with others so I suppose it's possible someone else could use it.
They asked if I have a password on it and I said no, they did a big "sigh" and said any computer logged into any work network needs a password on it.
Then they were like OK so you know nothing about this and I said no, they then just repeated to keep my computer locked and not let anyone use it, and said if they have any more questions they will contact me.

Seems like you got away with it, if anything the biggest problem here is that you had work items on an unprotected laptop.
Knew a guy who's company was super strict about that stuff, and you couldn't use personal devices for company businesses. Once you use it once, it can be claimed and searched by the company for an investigation per the technology use agreement. Essentially agreeing that if you have the ability to receive an email with company business on it, it can be taken, since you had to link it with the company server, they had a list of all devices whether you knew it or not. His whole group got rounded up by HR and they searched their devices for allegations made against their boss. However, a bunch of people used their personal devices for work, so those were confiscated too and investigated with the help of the FBI. Ended up finding one woman who was sleeping with the boss, and fathered an illegitimate child with her, since he was married. Also had text messages to cover up certain things and hide them. Dude got screwed and arrested.

"Because the thing about repairing, maintaining, and cleaning is it’s not an adventure. There’s no way to do it so wrong you might die. It’s just work. And the bottom line is, some people are okay going to work, and some people … well, some people would rather die. Each of us gets to choose.”

I'm never ever using personal tech for anything business related again, it's just too easy to forget to sign out of your Gmail and then you are phucked.
It's funny though because they don't provide you with a company laptop but expect you to stay across emails on your days off well they can get phucked, not doing that anymore.

They don't give you a company laptop so they're policing your personal computer? lol
