Controls (Budget/schedule/finance) Analyst for a large construction company.
We use a lot of programs to produce our reports and handle our payables and such ......and just lol at the thought of this solely being done by a program without some sort of human check/manual input/necessary arrangement of data.

One modern accountant with Excel can already do the work of 100 guys with paper spreadsheets 70 years ago, and yet the demand for accountants is higher than ever. The government will swoop in with some new unnecessary regulations that create thousands of unnecessary jobs out of thin air to keep the false economy chugging along

Right now AI can do about 50% of white collar tasks. That doesn't mean 50% of white collar jobs need to go away, but responsibilities in current jobs will shift from menial repetitive tasks to project management and operating/supporting AI tools. Basically if you are low IQ and lack critical thinking you are fuked.
For example, in cybersecurity nearly every technical task can be 98-99% automated. There have been entire jobs and companies build around choosing the right AI/automation tools, teaching people how to operate them, and certifying people in their use. You have to learn programming languages for data analytics, attend multi-week classes for tools that are considered basic/standard, and need years of experience to make useful information out of either. I imagine finance is the same way.
We are going to see people in white collar jobs falling like flies over the next decade or so, just like advancements in machinery reduced the number of people required to operate factories or farms. That 50 year old dude in your office who has been in the same position for 20 years is going to be the first on the chopping block. Stagnate and die.
The end game of AI is a society where work isn't absolutely necessary. Without advancements in cyborg-like brain tech; humans are fuked because fame/clout/flexing will likely become a new form of social currency for the masses.
Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

This is why I got a degree revolving around human behavior. There will always be money to be made exploiting human behavior. You can automate some things by tracking the behavior but automation will never tell you the why so it's limited.
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Also, where I work they have an automated system for our job....and it barely does shyt. It can only award the most simple contracts where the stars perfectly align - everything else needs to be done by an actual person.

Mass media or anthropology are high IQ choices.
I recommend fresh high school graduates to pursue these instead.
Accounting is too basic. Might as well be studying copy and paste. I remember going to young female job recruiter. She asked me if I'm even ready for bookkeeping jobs since all I have is accounting experience.

isn't this basically the same as a lot of accounting software out there?
alot of bookkeeping functions can and are automated. Still need human eyes to detect any possible discrepancies, serve as additional control, reconcile the bank/books, cash flow in the order of millions, etc. A lot simpler for small businesses but for big corporations that require audits not so much. I think even that chit will take like two decades to fully realize because organizations can be very slow to adapt. Hell, my company still uses a chit ton of paper in 2021, when everybody like 2-3 decades ago were saying that chit would be dead by now.
as you move up in accounting, the less your work is capable of becoming automated, and many occupy diverse and multiple roles/functions plus. I suspect the role's may shift for accountants more towards value added services like financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, advisory, etc rather than mundane and repetitive work.
First it was typewriters, computers, spreadsheets, accounting software, ERP software, literally just starting to get into block chain. Humans still here lol ... even when the tech emerges not everybody has the money for it and adaptation can be slow.
