This is fuked. Was foam rolling getting ready for a lift then bam 10/10 shooting pain in lower back. Fell to my back and yelling in pain. Laid for 15 mins then crawled over to my whiskey that was in reach and took a swig. Never had anything like this happen before

Edit. Fuk Idk how to get these to link but here’s my view. 2 glasses in now. Still in pain but atleast it’s funny to me now

****ed up my back about 2 months ago, thought it was better, then aggravated it again last week. Can't even put socks or shoes on without going to weird positions. I feel you OP. Take it easy because you definitely don't want to escalate it.

Ayyyy this happened to me two years ago and then again two weeks ago. I thought I was paralyzed when it first happened srs

Good luck brah back injuries are no joke and do not opt for surgery unless absolutely necessary (not needed 95% of the time).

Happened to me once while warming up deads with 225. I had to drop it because I couldn't bend down at all. Took 6 months of rehabbing it to get back to normal.

1. Best advice is DO NOT STRETCH OR FOAM ROLL
2. Lie face down on a hard surface for 10 minutes and do it 3-4 times a day.
3. Look up the McKenzie method and start doing exercise 2 after a week and following #2 above. Then progress to exercise 3.
4. When things start feeling better, body weight squats and single leg body weight RDL for 10 sets of 10, progress to 5 sets of 20, always following the McKenzie stretches.

Good luck Dave man.

Disagree with outright prescribing the mckenzie method. A disc can rupture in many directions. Mine hates being in extension. I'm mostly pain free nowadays but lying on my front for 10 mins + still aggravates it. There's a reverse mckenzie method that focuses on flexion that worked much better for me. OP needs professional advice on his precise issue.

Go to your GP, ask for a referral to as specialist and get the pain meds you need to cope until inflammation goes down. By now the specialist and gp will have given you rehab exercises specific to your pain. Engage a physio once you have your advice because chances are you have a weak pelvic floor and need help properly engaging muscles like your transverse abdominus. I know this sounds like $$ but you only get the one back brah.

In future you probably need to do the following:
- a lot of floor and ab work (hollow holds, dead bugs, bird dogs, Obliques etc).
- a lot of hip stretching (bretzel stretch, lizard Lunges)
- back stretching with minimal hamstring stretches.
- glute activation (sandbag shouldering, bridges, good girl bad girl).

Deadlifts and squats are still in the realm of possibility but I'd learn to love elevated split squats and sandbag shouldering for your major leg work.

Currently laying on bed, still in pain. Wife gets home in two hours. Haven’t Ate one calorie today, have drank many calories today now.

Also have had prob 10oz of whisky and 2 beers without any food at all

I'm a firm believer that most people's reaction to spinal pain is far more intense because of cowardice/poosey mentality. I know the pain can be excruciating I've had it bad before but some people just seem way too immobilized and demoralized by it. I prescribe that you grow some fukkin balls OP. Get off the floor and start moving it will help. Try some deadlifts at 50% srs.

Also use an electric heated pad when you've earned the right to recuperate it helps a lot.

Like everyone else in here it seems I too had this exact thing happen. Was warming up going for a 545lb deadlift that day and with 225lb I just bent down to deadlift it. I was so amped up and cocky I just went to yank it up because usually 225lb is weightless when deadlifting that I didn't brace my abdominals at all.

Down on the floor for about 5 min with debilitating pain. Couldn't tie my shoes, walked bent over like an old man, etc.

It's your sciatic nerve OP. I strained my piriformis which runs right over the sciatic nerve.

Took me about 2 weeks to fix it. Just slowly start doing abdominal stabilization exercises like planks and light romanian deadlifts. I remember just taking the 45lb dbs at home and doing like 8 sets of 20 of rdls and supersetting them planks. I didn't go to a gym at that time and lifted in a buddies basement. It worked and haven't had that pain again yet.

I pulled my back couple of years ago. It was so bad that I was on the floor for three days. I had no appetite and my wife had to feed me spoonful of ice cream just to keep me going.

Was supposed to be smoking ribs all day while the wife and mom where away all day and I’ve been on the floor and pounding whiskey instead.

Just ordered papa John’s for us all but I’m scared they’re gonna ring the door bell them I’m fuked.

Told the wife “if someone rings our front door saying we won a million dollars, I don’t think I could make it to the door
