They're paid to do whatever possible for their clients. Chauvin was wrong, but there were bigger factors in regards to his death. The knee to the neck thing was the least of his worries. I've said it before. In death he did so much more than he could have ever wanted to do for his kids in life, given that he was years behind in child support.

But let's be honest. That money will be squandered in less than 3 years.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

My point was that they probably did cite negligence to win the case. Also civil trials have a lot more leniency than criminal trials. They were not charging for Derek Chauvin for murder, but rather trying to prove enough evidence that he was at least negligent enough to be complicit in George Floyd's death.

This is SOP. When they can't pin someone for murder they go for a civil trial. The Goldman's did the same thing after the OJ criminal trial and won.

CLEARLY the lawyers were good enough to get the family 27 million but thank your your armchair analysis.

If police protocol and tactics don't change, then honestly what is the money gonna do for the future? How can the tax payers continue to afford to pay such fees if negligence continues.

If the police killed my dad, I'd want to know what changes are made to prevent it from happening again, wtf am I gonna do with money, it won't replace my Dad. No amount of money makes up for a father's death. Yet we continue to take fathers away for drug use/possession like it's nothing.

Agreed Derek should've called EMS immediately after Floyd said he couldn't breathe.

BUT Floyd swallowing massive amounts of drugs to avoid getting in trouble is his own doing. Floyd is a known criminal druggy amongst the police. And they all have stupid ass complaints while getting arrested.

Things rarely go "by the book" out on the field. And that's because people like Floyd are never by the book themselves. AKA swallowing lethal amounts of drugs instead of owning up to his own ch1t.

Yep totally agree on all points but civil trials have MUCH more leniency.

I don't think that the prosecution in the criminal case is going to make the 3rd degree charge stick TBH. Having looked at the video up until the incident I don't think it was murder.

IDK if they are charging manslaughter or not.

You assumed a problem, i said "sit him on the curb or put him in the truck"; don't put words in my mouth when i didn't say that.

Those were the exact words verbatim.
