So ****ing true. I get tickled pink by officecels when they cope with that kind of lingo. Some of the **** I've heard:

- "I need people who can grind here" === "I need other unfulfilled losers to sit in front of an excel spreadsheet for 12+ hours a day but need a verb to feel cool about it"
- "we are the quarterbacks of the company" === "I was never the QB in anything ever. In fact my entire life was spent on the sidelines watching the real QBs of life, but now that I have some minor degree of importance I need to relive my high school fantasies. I also have a dad bod and am out of shape"
- "so and so is an absolute rock star" === "so and so works twice as much as everyone else, sells their soul to corporate networking, life out of work involves talking about work or gossiping about coworkers, likely has no major hobbies, interests, other cash flowing investments, etc. all this to get paid maybe 10% more than their peers and promoted a year or two earlier."
- "we work hard but we also play hard" === "If doing this soul sucking job for 60 hours a week wasn't enough, we also have plenty of happy hours, work dinners, and drink in the office that you will be expected to attend - especially if you want to advance in your career. All of us were the losers in high school and college that never got a chance to party, so now is our chance to play catch up and get drunk, hit on each other, gossip about who is sleeping with who in the office, etc. all in the middle of the week. Also because of this lifestyle we all are fat, overweight, have no real hobbies or interests".

Just lol have heard and seen it all before.
Lol you only forgot positive can do culture = if I catch you at the end of the day and tell you to prepare a 2 hour presentation for tomorrow morning's meeting, you better smile and pretend to be happy about it.

We do a one week WFH/ one week in office rotation. Plus I do dispatches.

Honestly I think I’d go crazy WFH every day so I’m actually pretty happy we do a rotation. Did WFH from March to to July last year and I was getting tired of it by then and was glad to get on a rotating schedule

It could be just some deep seated cope on my part too. But yeah I don’t mind going into the office every other week at all. It’s a mom and pop shop so it’s not soul crushing and the days fly by whether I’m home or in the office.

Just talked to a guy here who is here from CA for his kid's baseball tournament. Their last game is late tonight and then they are driving back ALL night tonight so he can get back for his wagecel job.

Without a hint of awareness, he said, "sucks, but what are you gonna do? Everyone has to drive back tonight except for the 2 guys who own their own business."

Once I read 4 hour workweek, all I did for 2 years was try to negotiate WFH. It makes the wageslaving feel much less wageslavey.

But yeah the corporate type environments are brutttalllll.

I have friends who are personal trainers who own their own business; and if they had an early morning client they would do the exact same thing. Not sure what your point is...

Personal trainers aren't business owners. Their "business" is worth $0 and stops making money the second they aren't working. They are more contractors than business owners, same as a stylist who rents a chair or independent sales agents.

The guy who owns the gym I go to, I think I've only ever seen him a few times. He's mostly doing whatever he wants, only stops in to check on the place and count his money. Meanwhile, a whole crew of trainers are there constantly trying to grind out a living.

I honestly don't think I could do corporate. Don’t care how good the pay is.

At my current company there’s virtually no HR (just 1 lady who is really lax), almost everyone is a Trump supporter, no gay SJW stuff aside from whatever trainings are mandated by NY state, etc.

That's better than most personal trainers, but ideally, the point of owning a business to build an asset with tangible value.

It's only 6pm here, so I'm not even thinking about work yet. I won't think about work until 9am tomorrow, so I'm not sure why you're lol'ing now.

I used to work in marketing but I changed fields. Working from home is fairly cushy, but it's still a very stressful job with deadlines, nonstop emails and Slack messages, and you can't make any mistakes. It's hard for me to even go to the bathroom as I'll hear my computer dinging.

Have any of your unaware friends or family seen your trophy yet? That's a pretty sick flex.

It’s been mostly displayed in my gym so I don’t really think anyone’s seen it.

Imagine being a full blown adult and having a one hour lunch break like a child

Or being told when to go to bathroom

Or getting scolded at for showing up 2 min late to a meeting
