I live in NYC. I don't agree with this tax hike, but I knew the hike was coming. This state is heavy blue.

I work with a lot of left-wing people. The argument is that, while the economy did shrink during Covid, New York's billionaires got wealthier; most of the damage was to the working-man. So the argument is that the wealthy can and should shoulder the burden.

They also say that NYC raised taxes on the rich in 2009, and the rich didn't leave in mass numbers. I don't know if this statement is true or not though.

Wasn't Cuomo begging for them to return? Pretty sure quite a few flew the nest.
